    SDMA British-made naval oxygen rebreather

    https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/SDBA

This rebreather was made in Britain by Mercury Products from 1971 to the late 1990's, but production stopped, and the firm now make only in-airliner wheelchairs.

What sorts of rebreather are now used by the world's navies and frogmen?

As far as I know, many marine units are using the Draeger LAR V oxygen rebreather.

Newer units in military use are LAR-6 and LAV-7.

    True, especially in training.

The VI & VII are used for special ops requiring something other than pure O2

Have you by any chance found any real photos of the units? I'd be keen to see them if you have any please.

    See at http://www.therebreathersite.nl/Zuur...s_sdba_mk5.htm

They were advertized for "canoe work", but likely that big canister in front of the abdomen would have got in the way when climbing over the edge of a small boat. The old British SCBA (= Swimmer Canoeists Breathing Apparatus) had the front of the abdomen free: see https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:2...ebreathers.jpg .
