New Ireland is known for big fish and fish schools; they are best observed on the outer reefs and channels. Two dives not to be missed are Albatross Passage and Planet Channel. On an incoming tide and running current grey and whitetip reef sharks,

It's useful to know that there's a Japanese minisub located 2 Hours north at full speed in their recently purchased catameran.

The sub is 30 yards or so away from a large parent vessel in 20 odd meters rising to 6m.

Very well worth the visit if the weather's calm.

I'd recommend Lissenung to any diver.

PNG is one of my favorite dive destinations on the planet! My wife and I spent 10 days on a liveaboard there 2 1/2 years ago and are going back next fall for another 12 day trip. The most amazing diving I have ever done! Can't wait to get back.

Thanks for posting the article. It wets the appetite even more!

    Regards,
    Randy
