    That's not quite true. As someone who has been organizing meetings and getting credentialed for our medical conferences, we have to state in writing any commercial interests, or sponsors, each lecturer has to disclose separately any potential conflicts. Every paper presented in every journal has disclosures of potential conflicts. So these conflicts are vetted, and aired in a formal manner.
    Expert witnesses can be questioned in court about potential conflicts, but ultimately the legal teams will choose which experts to use.

    Not all conferences are so diligent. Are you talking about conferences that count towards CME or just generic conferences?
