VR3 Strap Broken!

Hi All,

My VR3 strap has finally given out and I'm looking to replace it. I'm keen to make it a little bit wider so it's about 50mm or double the current strap. Any ideas what the material is??

Cheers,
Jason

Re: VR3 Strap Broken!

Jason: I put my VR3 on a piece of PVC, and wear it on my wrist using bungee cord. I drilled holes in the PVC to use plastic wire ties in fixing the computer to the PVC. Much more reliable and comfortable than the strap.
I know 2 people who have lost VR3's getting on diveboats because of the stock strap. Peter

Yes, this works great it also aid's in putting the thing on ... you can change
the bungee knots when changing from wet and dry diving.

Re: VR3 Strap Broken!

I would love to put a wider band on my VR3 but not sure how to attach it.
The material for the elastic band can be found at Specialized Textile Outfitters www.ahh.biz 1-866-458-2559 under woven elastic webbing. Not exactly what delta p uses but does work w/ the fastex buckles.

A safety strap for a VR3 anyone?

Not expensive enough?

Or you could simply use the stock strap and add a closed-loop bungie loop around the side of the computer where there is a pin slot open.

This adds minimum hardware, very comfortable and secure. And cheap. Takes 2 mins to do...

Just slip your hand thru the loop and put the strap on as normal. If the straps come apart, the loop will hold the computer to your wrist.

Re: VR3 Strap Broken!

Once the clip is engaged on the VR3 put two cable ties around it to secure forever.......

Well 5 years so far.......

Re: VR3 Strap Broken!

I got a torch lanyard and attached it at the strap pin and I put the lanyard on, then the strap.

This is what I use. Just a bit of thick bungy tie wrapped to the small loop slot on the side.

I bought new VR3 Starps from Barry Law for my KISS displays. Quite cheep really.
