Re: Vr3

Hi Mark

The big graphics mode makes the characters taller, not just bigger, and it removes the tts display, which I find quite useful. So, this is pretty well useless. There are stick on patches for masks that help with reading displays, SPGs etc. which may be more helpful.

As to colour, I've never seen one in action so I don't lnow I need one!

Hope that helps a bit...

cheers

Andy

Re: Vr3

It makes the top row bigger, I'd have prefered it if it had mad the middle row of numbers larger. From memory you also loose the TTS when in big graphics mode. For these reasons I didn't bother with it.

The colour/color screen is very good (bit expensive), makes it very easy to read in dark/murky conditions. I think the monochrome may be better for blue water diving.

Re: Vr3

Hi Mark,

I have the colour screen on my Ouroboros and it is awesome, really clear to see in dark diving conditions, I leave the backlight on UW.

I also have 2 monochrome screens that are good too, just not as good.

I have no knowledge of the big graphics however.

Cheers,

Dave Cooper.

Re: Vr3

Hello,

If I had to buy a Vr3 now, I would wait a bit, especially if you are interested in their HUD as maybe your Vr3 could not be compatable! Anyone know anything about this?

Mark,

Not so fast. I've been diving for 9 months now with the monochrome VR3, and with the Backlight on it is perfect. Now here is my disclaimer: I have not actually seen a Colour display VR3, so my next comment is just my opinion, but I have always felt that colour displays are a bit gimmicky especially for underwater environments. As you go deeper, isn't red one of the first colours to go, yet, I see many Computer display that show Red in the Bar graphs (invisible anyone?) for exceeding some limit or other!!

Stay with the simple and easy. Oh by the way, apart from a few niggly things (talked about on other threads), I love my VR3, I don't dive with any other computer.

Cheers,
Michael

Re: Vr3

You won't loose the red in the computer display because there is not enough water between you and the display to filter out the red. The colors will show up quite nicely. Think about how things look when you shine a dive light on them underwater. All the colors become visible again. I have a VR3 with the color screen and am very happy with it. I did not nor do I intend to get the Big Graphics mode pin. I like having the TTS display!
