Regardless, I think it is cost issue on your case whereas we were just talking about the functionality issue (independent of cost). And I understand anyone could make a case of cost "affecting" functionality... ![]() Trust me, I spend a lot of money on diving but i try hard not to waste it. I had a perfictly adiquate 10W HID but having tried the 21W I had to have it. The colour screen on the VR3 just didnt have the same effect. I tried the colour screen on a dive and thaught heyyyyyyy thats funky i must get one. Then i found out how much it cost and concluded it was a lot to pay for a gimmic. I want the colour screen but its very very low on my priorities list. I find the monochrome screen works fine. It does the job. The colour screen does the job better like HD TV is better than my present mega pixel one. However its not so good as I will pay an extra £500 year for it. If the price drops in the future Ill go HD same thing with the VR3 if it were cheeper id go for it. Sadly I cant justifie the cost against the benifit. Rather like the HH in a way. I dont trust any CCR head out there at the momnet. I cant risk a failure so I need two heads. I cant afford two Vision Heads and the Classic heads are prety basic so I opted for two Hammer Heads. Dived the classic, dived the HH I know which one I prefer. If I could get a vision and a spare vision head for the same or even close money it would have been worth considering. But whats that going to cost £8000. I got two Hammer heads and a unit for £3600.00 I like to think with the anodised hand sets and some antioxident conductive paste all the Hammer Head problems will go away. Watch this space. Thanks for the input guys,my original point was does it make it easier to read?Having now taken delivery of a colour model I find with my eye sight it is very clear and easy to read.Just waiting for a break in the weather to try in the salty stuff.cheers Mark |

![]() | Re: Vr3 Dunno what a RAY even is to be honest. Oh... it was just it said "Rebreather(s): Ray" in your profile by the side of your postA Drager Ray is a simple SCR rebreather that looks a bit like a BCD... I really like the Megalodon so that's what I'm aiming for, I'm trying to make all my starter OC gear compatible with the future rebreather rig so I don't end up ditching any expensive gear. Good plan but take care not to lose out on diving in the mean time. Don't end up with expensive top end gear that only goes in the water when visibility is gin clear, temperature is warm and a gentle offshore breeze wafts the scent of wild jasmine blossom over a quietly swaying diveboat My advice - get a set of kit that you're not worried to use, THEN USE IT, USE IT and USE IT SOME MORE - there is much merit in starting with some secondhand gear that can be scratched, dropped, covered in silt, accidently forgotten and left damp at the bottom of the divebag for a week ... I started with some mildly used gear for a fraction of what it would cost new - gave me a chance to find out what I liked rather than what the local dive shop thought they could sell me. Some I kept (still there as my spare), some got swapped / sold on, and some wore out or got broken / lost. Don't spend time trying to avoid making kit buying mistakes that would be better spent doing actual diving... |
