VR£ 4th cell - permissable tracking error?

I've installed a 4th cell holder which sits near the T-piece on my Inspo.

I can calibrate it fine, even with the slightly older cell I'm using. However, when I was playing with it at the surface last night, I noticed a -0.05 difference between the handsets and the VR£.

I haven't dived with the link switched on yet, and it did seem to track OK when I tested it on dry land.

Is this normal for this type of setup or should I be adjusting something?

TIA!

It takes me 3 -4 flushes to achieve 1.6 at 6m on the unit. It takes the same to calibrate the VR3 using a forth cell. Most of the people claiming to have a problem turned out were just doing the standard insp calibration to set the VR3

However 0.05 is not what I would call a problem. It sounds very familiar to me. I still get this now and my VR3 is plumed directly into cell 1. The VR3 is faster reacting and more sensitive than the YBOD I am told this gives differences in the readings.

I didn’t keep the forth cell for long but when I had it it worked fine using the Y piece type. When running the other VR3 on fixed set point I do the whole dive 0.05 below dynamic set point. The difference over up to 180mins in the water is bugger all really so personally I wouldn’t worry about it.

Having played about a bit in this area, I've found the VR3 to be quite slow in responding to pp02 changes. Its readings seem to lag the actuals by a good few seconds. Simple test: Calibrate both YBOD and vr3, disconnect the vr3. Set the pp02 to a known (and different level). Plug the vr3 in and count how long it takes to read the correct pp02.

I also find the VR£ to be much slower in reacting. I think this may smooth some of the fluctuations so I'm not too fussed. I will try your check though - would be a good confidence boost...

Hi Mate,

Mine is never "on track" so to speak, I just don't worry much about it, as long as it reads slightly lower than the actual set point. CNS is not a major issue, I rarely get close to 100%.

Thats realy odd.

My plummed in VR3 picks up on o2 injection a lot quicker than the YBOD hand sets. My VR3 is mounted on the master hand set so I am looking at both at the same time and when the unit injects the VR3 is the first to twich. This is especialy noticible on the 6m 02 flush.

Maby my one is freeky

Mine is v2 I think and 2 pin. The holder is shoulder mounted and the gas seems to be drawn through two holes by the pressure difference. This may account for some of the delay. However, the refresh rate of the screen also seems much slower than the handsets.

Smile

Mine is grey and heavy... Does that make a difference?

I was playing with my GCS in the murk last night, and being able to flick your wrist and do a confidence check on the PO2 without searching for handsets was great. Only your HUD would be more convenient...
