VR3 - Is PIN required for O2 cell activation? Hi guys, Have been looking at a VR3 for use with my SCR. Very impressed with the unit BUT adding an external O2 cell would cost damn near half as much again as the unit. For SCR use the basic model is supposed to be OK i.e. doesn't need the CCR model. Is a PIN required to use this feature OR can I simply get a fischer plug, some suitable wire and a molex connector and 'knit' my own for a fraction of the cost... Have even seen a couple of companies offering non Delta-P O2 rigs again at a beneficial price but if PIN is required then not such a good deal... Any thoughts would be appreciated ![]()

Re: VR3 - Is PIN required for O2 cell activation? Yes, the PIN is required. You can get just the PIN ($225) and opposed to the whole O2 package ($440)

Re: VR3 - Is PIN required for O2 cell activation? Hi, You will need a pin to activate the VR3 I/O connector (=Article C9). This will allow you to attach and read from an external 02 cell. Depening on the VR3 version you have, afterwards you can use the external cell readings within the SCR or CCR mode. A VR3 with SCR will display the external cell readings as F02 = 32 % O2. The CCR version will display it as PPO2 (= 1.3). Again: You will NEED the PIN to activate the I/O connector. The cell holder, cable, o2 cell etc. you can buy somewhere. Kind regards DINspiration

Re: VR3 - Is PIN required for O2 cell activation? Yep, Thanks guys suspected as much... Would have been too good to be true. Basic VR3 about £600 External O2 cell (inc PIN) around £240 plus need a cell... Equals not a lot of change from a grand... Looks like I'll be sticking with the oxygauge ![]()

Re: VR3 - Is PIN required for O2 cell activation? Presumably the PIN is generated as some function of the serial number and is specific to the computer it was purchased for... i.e. even if you got a secondhand external O2 sensor with a PIN - it won't work for a different VR3... Just out of interest the prices seem to vary a heck of a lot - cheapest I've seen a mono C1 is £585 inc vat (though Golem has in the US at equivalent of £575) Anyone seen cheaper?

Re: VR3 - Is PIN required for O2 cell activation? Yes the pin is specific to the VR3 it was bought for. If you got a second hand cell you would still require a pin. Contact Barrie Law for the VR£ (on this board) thats the cheapest I've found.

Nah its the same PIN so if you have the CCR verison it shows PPO2 and if you have OC version it shows FO2and you need to pay more!!!??? well that's my guess given the pin options, else you could get the OC nitroc version and the 4th cell pin and you'd have a CCR usable VR3. who knows ![]()

The options are C1 - C4 for OC Nx, CCR Nx, OC Tx, CCR Tx. I think if you have or bought a C1 then you'd need to upgrade to at least C2 and unlock the I/O and buy a cable to be able to dive the CCR. Depending on what your doing you can set the Vr3 to 1 and then dive the Rebreather at 1.2. Dave C

Re: VR3 - Is PIN required for O2 cell activation? As I understood it a C1 with the external sensor can be set for Xfunc = XO2 (Connector feature [when enabled] = External O2) and XDec = ON (Use the external sensor to calculate Deco) which gives real time deco based on actual FO2 rather than trying to plan using the old 'guesstimate your FO2' table...
