![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: VR3/Explorer/Shearwater units on Rebreather World I started with the very first VR3 (the big heavy one) and went over to the new one some years ago. Some time ago I updated the computer to the colour version with VPM. So far I made over 500 dives with my VR3 (OC, CCR Inspiration, mCCR Submatix SMS, SCR Dolphin, Ray, IDA-79, Azimuth) and I had only had one problem with a wrong sized AA battery. This battery type caused a computer reset during a dive. Since this I use only SAFT Lithium 14500C or Duracell Plus Alkaline and never had this problem again. DINspiration |

![]() | Re: VR3/Explorer/Shearwater units on Rebreather World I purchased one of the early explorers with interface. It was DEAD when I took it out of the box. A bad pressure transducer in a unit that was never tested at the factory. I was starting to sell them at the time, sent it back to my distributor and said no thank you. Received a complete refund. PM sentI have a VR3 without VPM that I used up until last year. Didn't like the deco schedule and the function controls through the 2 buttons are a PIA. When I took it off my wrist, I had to add a pound of weight and no longer have a balance issue It's for sale if anyone wants it. I use a Cochran EMC-20H. It works; it's simple; I like the deco schedule. I carry a set of OC back up tables just in case. Ted |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: VR3/Explorer/Shearwater units on Rebreather World What ? Canada is outside of the US ? Actually, with the state of the USD plunging, I just heard an announcement that Canada is looking to do a leveraged buyout of the US, backed by asset capital, mainly in the form of F/A-18 Hornets given to Canada on a sweet Lend Lease deal from the US. This would be the biggest real estate deal since the Louisanna Purchase of 1803, and the biggest screwing of the French yet, since the French gave up the US territory in 1803 for pennies on the dollar, and all French Canadians would be required to stay in the Northern Territories, now called Canada, while the rest of the Canadian citizens would move to Florida, displacing the New Yorkers and New Jerseyans to the Midwest where looting and pillaging would then take place. California may still be turned over to the Japanese and hippies in an unpresidented move to let PETA and Tokyo battle it out for control of the marine mammal population there. If the USD doesn't increase in value soon, we will all be saying, "Take off, eh!"![]()

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: VR3/Explorer/Shearwater units on Rebreather World have owned two visions between wife and I...long story, the ending is self evident. Have owned two GF's, very happy with, but got the "must have the newest" bug, so sold them and the pursuits are on the way ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() Own two shearwater HUD's... as far as i'm concerned this computer has revolutionized the way I dive and it deserves being singled out as the HUD that has the potential to be used as a primary, IMHO. It is driven by it's own computer and battery and tracks all three cells. Honestly, I can't say enough about how being able to see all three cells in real time po2, all the time, has helped me establish a po2 centered monitoring regime, particularly convenient for maintaining po2 through manual injection. It has shared three cells with the GF, but I have considered putting the GF, soon to be Pursuit, on a 4th cell, devoting the main three to the HUD for true isolation. I'm becoming a big fan of the po2 only primary concept mostly because it's what can change the fastest and be the deadliest, the one thing that needs very regular, active monitoring. I probably still check the handset as much as I used to on the vision, but now my po2 monitoring interval is practically continuous. It helps a lot that the rate of pulses increases as po2 goes up or down from 1.0. After two years of diving CCR's, i'm only now beginning to feel that I have a system worthy of my mistrust. ![]()

![]() | Re: VR3/Explorer/Shearwater units on Rebreather World After having very similar problems with Gene and the Explorer (three consecutive floods with months of time with HS inbetween) I purchased a VR3, which I do not particularly like- more than once I've had it give me stops deeper than the ones I have already completed, meaning I bin it for the dive and go to tables. I dont trust the machine. I'm debating now between an X1 and a shearwater- but as my breather use becomes more prevalent I am leaning towards the Shearwater. Jason |

Always compared to Vision on the other wrist. I make the deco up as I go. The computers are only there offer an opinion and record the profile for the inquest.

![]() | Re: VR3/Explorer/Shearwater units on Rebreather World I make the deco up as I go. We had similar tricks here in the early '90s when we couldn't get hold of a table cut on DrX. On ascent, when the shoulder or elbow started hurting, you decended five meters, did a five minute stop and tried again.........
