![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: VR3 issues I like the color screen the best. I find it is MUCH easier to read underwater. I have very little experience with the Cochran, so am probably not qualified to speak concerning it. I will just say this: Look around at what other tech divers are using. It is probably 10 to 1 in favor of the VR3. Good luck with your decision! MixAddict |

![]() | Re: VR3 issues Mixaddict, ok. Thanks. I still think i will buy the VR3, but i have my doubts about some feteaurs. Anyway, the problem around here is that in Guadalajara in México technical diving is still very poor attended. Maybe 5 or 6 people do actual technical diving. And some of them are not in favor of technical diving computers. Ther actual teach not to use computer while doing decompression. I will ask around about the Cochran. Thank you very much, Willi |

Minus the color screen, maybe that is the Tachyon. I had a very long discussion with Phil Straw (Heliox) today. Based on the preliminary feature set that has been explained to me, it seems like a very promising deco computer for the price point (USD$695.00). There's no computer games in it but it was built to do one thing; Get 'er done.-OC & Fixed PPO2 CCR + can be implemented into 4th cell for live loop deco -Buhlmann w/GF (implemented based on "spirit" of GF which is what we need) -GF Hi/Lo factor can be anywhere from 5 to 95. -Common battery (CL123) to last approximately 70 hours (~ 1 year for most ppl) -Gas switching (Predefined gas list not needed. Enter on the fly.) -Tested to 150m. Alleged to go deeper. -All dive info on one screen (No elaborate menu system. All changes done on that single screen.) -Alternate screen can be called up for fluff info (max depth, cns, temp, etc) -Unit's size is on par with VR3 I believe. Seems low profile. -Two buttons for modifying parameters -New case is made of a unique plastic (supposed to be extremely durable) -Strap was explained to be constructed in a way that unit will NOT rotate/move even with cable for 4th cell attached. I'll skip the color screen for the feature set and price point of the Tachyon. Again, it looks promising. I guess we'll know for sure come October. They'll be at DEMA as well. There was also the mention of VPM BE to possibly be offered for inclusion toward the end of next year (not for free but very reasonable). We need a review of this baby when it starts shipping. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: VR3 issues I have been very interested in the Heliox Tachyon computer but when things went quiet I thought they had packed up and gone home. Hopefully that is not the case because as you say they do seem to have a lot of potential for a good backup for the Vision.
