Re: VR3 safety vs Vision GF?

I have found that when my Vision is set for 15/85 GF and my VR3 (in Buhlman mode) is set for 10% safety, they are almost exactly the same until the last 2 stops, at which time the VR3 will take me a 3-4 mins. longer to get out of the water, depending on my profile of course.

Re: VR3 safety vs Vision GF?

Thanks for all the info and advice. Unfortunately blown out this weekend, so I'm jumping into a puddle tomorrow instead. I'll try out the various suggestions and see if I can work out how to interpret the display on the VR3, including setpoint changes underwater.

(I don't have the 4th cell)

Will let you know how I get on after I get back tomorrow.

Mark

Re: VR3 safety vs Vision GF?

I have been diving my HH with 15/85 and my VR-3 with VPM/BE side by side for the last couple weeks. The first stop is within 10 fsw of one another and the vr3 keeps me in for an additional 10-12 minutes on a 35 minute dive at 240fsw...

Re: VR3 safety vs Vision GF?

I've used my Vision on 15/85 for a number of dives in the 50 - 80m range, with my VR3 as backup.

I've found this if I run the VR3 on actual set point (i.e. 1.3) with zero% safety, they track quite closely. The VR3 normally requires a few more minutes to clear after the Vision clears.

Note that:
  • I do the deep stops that the VR3 asks for, this increases the TTS on the Vision as you'd expect.
  • I follow the "man on the rope" on the VR3 to push up the the Vision deco ceiling
