VR3 bollocks. lost profiles in download.

OK, this is starting to piss me off now.

I am losing my dives when I download them. The last six are being lost, which is effing annoying when the dives were around 175 mins long.
The dives show up on the index but there is no profile. The profile graph is scaled correctly but is blank.
When I try to print out the html log page it responds "Runtime error 3021, no current record" then the program closes and gives me the windows error reporting crap.

I can download my dives in Prolog (old DOS thing) and view them fine. They wont import into Prodive though. Same problems.

Any ideas anyone?

Re: VR3 bollocks. lost profiles in download.

IIRC, it's actually an Access database (with a renamed extension). With a bit of fiddling, depending on how IT literate you are, you may be able download them using your DOS thing and add the records manually so prodive reads them. You can open up all the tables in Access and it's obvious what should go where.

FWIW, I gave up on Prodive after it lost my dives and now use a Vyper as the datalogger. For the world's most expensive dive computer it's rubbish when it comes to downloading...

HTH.

I wrote Delta-P for that problem about 3 weeks ago. Still no answer. The raw data is there, if you export the file to a csv format, you will see it but the graph won't show.

Out of thirty some dives that the VR3 logged over a 2 week period, only 6 consecutive dives had this problem. They weren't even the last of the series.

On one dive decause the cave was shallow, the VR logged 6 different dives because it resets the moment you surface.

Anyways, still no news from Delta-P. I'll have to resubmit. They probalby reply something like "what a strange problem, we can't replicate it here" .

"Don't worry Sir. They all do that."

At least it seems to work OK in the water.
Would any VR3 owner buy a Boris?

Still shopping but three things got me to orient myself more towards the Meg.
  1. The size of the Boris, a bit big to travel.
  2. Distance from home for servicing
  3. These little annoying glitches in their software and the erratic amount of time it takes to get partial answers from Delta-P.
Like you say

If I wanted to/knew how to screw around with software,.................

Time to take your advise. I'll just have to give up. I download my Suunto too, looks like I'll have to revert to that for logs again. Shame because now I dont have any good reference material to use for dives I have done. Losing profiles for dives of 175mins runtime is more than a nusance, its a complete confidence killer.
Looks like I'll have to start looking back through the posts comparing the HS.

I'm pleased they dont make rebreather controllers..................

You're kidding or you just don't know how much the downloader for the HS SUCKS.

It's like a poorly done highschool science project.

You are lucky if the download interface (we'll call it that to be polite) survives to more than four downloads.

Keep on using your SUUNTO, I'll sitck to my Citizen watch ( and lose most of the profiles on trips )

Heads up appreciated.

Anyone else have runtimes which regularly pass 120/150 mins and have similar problems?

Brent.

Re: VR3 bollocks. lost profiles in download.

Just a thought, but are people still raving about the Sensus Pro? Might be a nice cheap alternative...
