| Custom Title Allowed! ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | VR3 setting and Vr3 Hello all, At the what setting do you run your Vr3's ? Especially while using a YBOD ? Till now when I look at handsets are always above set point and rarly under, so is it worth it running a Vr3 on Ppo2 of 1.25 ? While air diving I compared the Vr3 with a Suunto Vytec and found the Vr3 was more conservative, what are your views ?

Assume high SP - 0.05 to be conservative as per APD manual. I also have 20% safety set on VR3 as I did on OC. Did 40 mins @ 34m at the weekend on Air diluent, VR3 required: 2' @ 20m (Pyle stop) 2' @ 13m (Pyle stop) 12' @ 6m (Deco) Don't know how this compares with a Suunto ![]() JT

| Bloody Rebreathers! Current Rebreather/s: | 1.25 on the YBOD and 1.2 when on the KISS. I don't know if it would matter really that much, they just seem to match my PO2s that I seem to read all the time on my hand pieces. Obviously we are assuming that we do not have plumbed in cells.

| In love with the big blue Current Rebreather/s: | Pierre WITH THE 4th CELL LINK The VR3 4th cell always drifts a little bit due to the placement of the 4th sensor compared to the three sensors in the head. For this reason when the VR3 drifts downwards and shows you less than you are breathing on the Inspiration handsets that is not a bad thing, you are diving conservatively then because your deco is calculated at less PPO2 than you breathe. When it is the other way about and the cell drifts UP then the deco is being assumed at a higher PPO2 than you are breathing. This is WITH the link. ------------------------------------------------------------------ WITHOUT THE LINK Without the link I always run at 1.25 or 1.2 (on deeper longer dives) and 0.65 or 0.60 because you are never really breathing 1.3 in real time. Just a little bit of added safety. One other point - if not diving with the link, when you do deep stuff it is important to tell the VR3 that you are on low setpoint for the descent phase of the dive and then switch the setpoint up FIRST on the handsets before you switch up on the VR3. This ensures the VR3 will be calculating deco in a conservative fashion. If you go down on low setpoint on handsets and high setpoint on VR3 you are ongassing more N2 than the VR3 thinks. Beware of this on long or slow descents or multi level diving or shore dives where you might not put setpoint up for a good few mins. That's all I've got time for hope to speak soon. Regards AnneMarie

| Multi-Circuit Meg Monkey! Current Rebreather/s: | Setpoint I run and offboard VR-3 at 1.3 po2 and run my unit from about a 1.28 - 1.33 manually with the solenoid set to fire at 1.2, in case I get distracted. Cheers Seb

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | I run two VR3's. One is plumed in through the HUD to cell 1 (no forth cell) the other is stand alone and i run it at 0.5 below set point. They end up within a few mins of each other on run times of up to three hours. Worst diferance I have had is 6mins ATB Mark Chase

When I check the handsets just before I expect the solenoid to fire, I see PPO2 below set point, often ~1.26. ...and after it fires you will probably see 1.35 ishso your average setpoint is 1.3. My vr3 is set 0.05 below setpoint. The deeper you go the less critical your ppo2 on the bottom is anyway. |
