I dive wrecks up to 130 feet and am thinking about getting a new computer. Is the VR3 to much computer for a SCR Dolphin. Just curious of your opinions?

Re: Is a VR3 to much comp for a Dolphin

What advantages would it give on a dolphin?

I know this is a vague question but I use a normal nitrox/air computer right now and I am wondering if the VR3 is worth it or If I should wait a bit.

For the long path you have started down, let me be blunt.

You will go further than SCR one day, if you dont get a constant PPO2 computer you will be wasting your money.

Which one is the question. Only three runners in my opinion. VR2, VR3 and HS Explorer.
Time to ask new questions me thinks.

Re: Is a VR3 to much comp for a Dolphin

The VR3 is a great all around technical dive computer that is appropriate for all types of technical diving. As you continue on in your progression as a tech diver including decompression, deep dives, CCR, Trimix etc. it will grow with you. Each of these capabilities is available in your computer, and you can unlock the next "step" by plugging in a pin (which you will buy from your dealer of course!) The great thing about the VR3 is that you will probably never out grow it. As far as a benefit for SCR, there is nothing particularly special about it specfically for SCR, but like most SCR divers, you will probably move into other areas of technical diving that will require a more advanced computer such as the VR3.

Yup, All it takes is money....and money ........ remember what Delta P says "it the only computer you will ever have to own" (because after all the upgrades you can't afford anything else!)
All things aside it's a good computer I have had three of them in various forms.

Hi Erik.

You can use the VR3 with an oxygen cell to monitor your loop contents and base your decompression obligations on it. In SCR mode the VR3 will show you the current nitrox mix eg. 38% and not ppO2.

Can you do the same with the VR2 ? but am I right in thinking that if you want to use CCR or trimix in the future, the VR3 is a better option ?

Sorry for hijacking the thread, use a Dolphin as well and curious.

I use a VR3 C4 with my Dolphin and I can highly recommend it. I am growing into mine real nicely. In fact, I'm thinking about getting a second one for back up.
