Re: Is a VR3 to much comp for a Dolphin

I have just bought a vr3 to go with my newly acquired dolphin. It functions flawlessly although I still cannot figure out all the button presses.

I love it but my bank manager doesn't...

I didnt fancy using the oxyguage given their reputed reliability, so it stays in the parts box. I also needed a new computer anyway.

It might be overkill, but at the end of the day the vr3 was the only computer that was up to the job, New AirZo2 and oxy02's are not readily available. HS explorers are thin on the ground in the UK, and i understand they are pretty difficult to get other than by ordering direct from the US.

Heliox seem to have gone to ground in spite of promises, and their website has been down for 2 months, so no joy there.

So even though I found the pricing exhorbitant, it does the job, It plus my lovely second hand drager kept me safe and allowed me plenty of time in the @25 METRE VIZ!!! we had in Weymouth last weekend.

Diving the blackhawk was kind of surreal we could see it all, i never knew there was so much of it :-) I could see a lot of the wreck from the surface when we dropped in.

You can use the VR3 with an oxygen cell to monitor your loop contents and base your decompression obligations on it. In SCR mode the VR3 will show you the current nitrox mix eg. 38% and not ppO2.

Morten
Hold on a sec... making this same decision as well... I just flooded my Oxyguage on my pool training dive... SUCK!

Anyways, am I understanding correctly the the VR3 in SCR mode does NOT give you ppO2?

Just clarifing.

Hello

VR3 SCR Mode with O2-cell = Displays the F02 (32% O2)
VR3 CCR Mode with O2-cell = Displays the PP02 (1.3)

On a SCR it makes more sense to display the FO2 instead the PP02. If you prefer to see the PP02 with a SCR, you will need a VR3 with the CCR enabled option.

Wouldnt the Shearwater be a viable option as well? I've been pondering the thought of going with a VR3 or Shearwater for a backup standalone to use with my Evo.

I know this is a vague question but I use a normal nitrox/air computer right now and I am wondering if the VR3 is worth it or If I should wait a bit.
A vr3 or an Hs explorer will provide you to everything you need to take advantage of your dolphin.
if you use one scr gas it is ok,
if you want to get into deco dive zone using a deco stage tank, you will be able to switch to this oc bail out gas in case of necessity.
if you dcide to do multi-gas scr diving with your dolphin you will be able to reduce you deco with the vr3.
if you switch to ccr kiss style you will also have the possibility.
don't waste you money buying anything else then a vr3 or an hs

Re: Is a VR3 to much comp for a Dolphin

Well I have been diving the VR3 for awhile. I have the o2 sensor link from Delta P and my computer has the C4 options enabled but now I am wondering what are the C codes for SCR and CCR options. I know the original code I was told was a C9 to enable th feature for a dolphin(is this the FiO2 option? I would think so) what is the code for the CCR ppO2 option. I like the dolphin but am still looking at a Kiss in the future so I dont want to continue to buy codes until the end of time.

Any help? BTW this thread showed up at the perfect time I had forgotten I posted this
