| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | VR3 ethics Hello all, I have owned of an Evo since March, more than happy with the machine and the electronics. I also own a VR3 but have more use for an He/O2 analyzer. Unfortunately at the moment, I cannot afford to own both and have reluctantly chosen to sell one in order to buy the other. I live in Brazil but will be paying a short visit to Australia next month. I have advertised the VR3 for sale there and if it sells, plan to pick up an analyzer in California on the way back. The VR3 is loaded with all of the options, up to and including C/C Trimix. Ethically, what responsibility do I have as to exactly whom I sell the machine to? Larky

Mine is the "C4" (OC/CC Trimix) and I have neither a formal CCR card nor a formal Trimix card..... nothing other than money was asked for when I made my purchase. This is how it should be, IMHO. |

| CHRISB Current Rebreather/s: | Re: VR3 ethics Hello Larky, I'm guessing that you are referring to the closed circuit trimix portion of the code on the vr3 in reference to your ethical question. I will be happy to give my two bits of thought on it. Anybody is able to go out and buy dive tables at stores/shops/online without any proof of certification or prior knowledge of diving. In fact most dive tables in print now, as well as dive computer manuals have a disclaimer written along the lines of 'do not attempt without proper training'. Going along with this same line of reasoning anyone can also purchase reference manuals & medical books and not be doctors. For them to go out and attempt open heart surgery after reading of the theory of how to do it would truly be irresponsible on their parts but I find it very hard to put blame on whomever wrote or sold those medical manuals. These of course are only my humble ramblings, far from legal advice! ![]() |

There's nothing to stop anyone going out and buying some helium, O2 and a transfill whip, mixing their own trimix, and going and doing a 100m dive without any formal training. Oh, except common sense and Mr Darwin of course. You can buy a Nitek He, an Explorer or indeed a trimix CCR VR3 without having any of the appropriate qualifications. Just ask me, I did! If you're really worried about it get the buyer to sign a piece of paper saying that they agree to undertake appropriate training and release you from any responsibility for anything bad that happens to them once they own it. I personally wouldn't bother.
