| CK+Shearwater Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Bubble check when diving solo and a VR3 ;) I have previously seen an old CD employed as a mirror in much the same fashion as described above, it was taken with the diver as a surface signalling mirror, the centre hole makes it easier to target when used as such. I have used my digital camera in lue of a buddy/mirror to check kit before- hold camera over head, press the shutter and let the auto-focus sort the rest out, then check the picture on the camera and delete it if everything is okay! Also a buddy of mine used the video facility on their digital stills camera to show me where my SK was leaking from on its first dive (ADV diaphram, typical!) and that was very useful. Using a camera is OTT but its better than nothing and if the sh*ts hitting the fan you get a picture to prove how crazy/brave you where afterwards! BEN

BEN I did just that was easier to borrow my mates camera and take a picture of his small leak rather than try to explain it.

I've never botherd in the UK as the vital ingredient, "the sun" is normally missing. I never thought of using it for bubble checks, I tend to tip back and look up. Thanks for the tip. |
