| Re: Vr3 Hd ????? You know how you can buy an Itunes song for $0.99?...DeltaP could do the same; simply go on their wesite and buy your next dive. Let's say $3.99 per nitrox dive and $5.99 per trimix dive. VPM-BE extra $0.99 per dive. Don't give them any ideas. The HD is good news for a VR3 owner, $220-$940 (depending on your old model) and 6-8 weeks turn around time and your old VR3 will do everything an X1 or Shearwater will do. Well not excactly since it appears there was no change to the decompression software so its still the same computer basicly. Does anyone know if you can upgrade your excisting VR3 to the new VR HD or do you have to buy the new one and use your old one as a hammer. Now that actualy is a good sugestion except the housing shape means the VR3 doesn't even do that very well, and you still have to buy a pin to unlock that feature. [/quote]The real good news is that anyone who sold Delta P stock short is in good shape right now.

| Re: Vr3 Hd ????? Marketing good or not, this what I see about it. $1,745 U.S. gets you a Shearwater Pursuit ready out of the box for open and closed circuit, trimix, and external ppo2 monitor (up to three cells). $1,474 (from a most US dealers) will get you Delta-P’s new VR3HD. But wait, if you are a rebreather diver, you need the up grades. 1. Multi-color activation pin so display is full color. . . $225. 2. Constant ppo2 monitoring. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $100. 3. Be able read external ppo2 (one cell only). . . . . . . $225. 4. Helium support for Trimix. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . $200. When it all said and done, especially the joyous part of putting all those pins yourself, you have invested $ 2,224. And lets talk about the other featured upgrade costs. I'm a CCR diver, and I endorse this message. HAHAHAHA-the math never lies, the whole HD thing is BS, there's no way its TRUE HD, the whole thing is just slippery or slimy marketing, there's nothing brilliant about it. Jon |

| Re: Vr3 Hd ????? The poor marketing is releasing each year's update in the middle of diving season when it takes 8-10 weeks to get the update applied! If they released the updated in the dead of winter people would be more inclined to do it. Winter Season for us is Summer season in the South part of the World...I'm happy to pay for the update, and part of the case where the handstrap goes on snapped off so I have to send it in anyway, but I'll be dammed if I give it up for the season. ![]() ![]() Nad

| Re: Vr3 Hd ????? Nad, Hey don't forget our Aussie brothers USA and UK are like France & Switzerland in the.... Northern hemisphere ![]() so it's not a good solution ![]() Cheers Humuhumu ![]() Hopefully now with the HD, any upgrade should be made by PIN so no more lost time with shipping etc. I just dove one: better screen resolution, more friendly navigation between menus. It is a little bit slower than the older version. For the rest it isn't really much different from the older versions. Cheers. Nad

| Re: Vr3 Hd ????? My 2 cents on the PIN thing. It reminds me of Lotus 'key disk' technology, which had the same principle motivation of withholding benefits from those who didn't pay. (for those too young to recall Lotus was a spreadsheet that preceded the domination of the market my MS Excel). Lotus's approach produced a whole waive of technological innovation that got around the 'protection' and I'm pretty sure the same thing with happen with PIN - PIN engaged manufacturers should recall the lesson. Lotus dominated the market and is now almost unknown. Bill

Bill Yes, like Ashton Tate (Framework, Dbase), Nantucket (Clipper), and they are hundreds of other examples where it didn't work to sc... the customers ![]() They should think about that. I've bought a Shearwater Pursuit and I'm very happy: easier to use by far than a VR£ and I don't care if it has a color screen or not. I found also the HUD of my Inspiration boring... underwater I can only recognize the position of the leds and not the colors, I prefer simple to use things, than all this high tech... especially when something goes wrong Cheers Humuhumu
