Smile VR3 Battery Caps

Hi all

My name is Matt and currently on oc. Ive been a long time watcher of RW and enjoy alot of the reports and home builds and for that I thank you.

So this is my first post and its all about the vr3.....

Ive been reading colinj's post "Continuous VR3 Issue " when Lancer4545 said about a cap for the fischer connector from narked@90 which i have now ordered after breaking the plastic one that came with it.

Quote:
There can be a bit of an issue with water getting into the fischer connector and I personally use metal caps instead of the dodgey plastic ones. You can get them from Narked@90 and are not expensive. But if you see any green/blue discolouration on the pins you have a water/corrosion issue and should talk to Delta P about how to remedy it.
I have a couple of mates who have damaged the battery cap and had to replace them. this is down to the cheap plastic cap and tool so i emailed narked@90 about a ally battery cap and they have produce a couple for themselves and if there is enought intrest they might market them. I currently have 3 people intrested I was wandering if anyone on hear would be as well.

Re: VR3 Battery Caps

Hi,

I'm interested about aluminum battery cap for my VR3. How many should be interested in order for Narket@90 to start producing them on a commercial level?

Best Regards. Wael

hello mathew, sorry i think i got the wrong end of the stick when you contacted me the other day, i had it in my head you were talking about the plastice cap on the inspiration battery box.
there will be a number of issues that i can see with changing the battery cover on the vr3.
the one they use now is a plastic outer with a nickel brass insert, making it out of ali would mean it would have to be coated which may mean it having a bad contact, if we made it out of say stainless steel this would then have a dielectric affect on the surrounding ali vr3 causing it to corrode,
so there solution is about what is cheap and and will not damage the vr3.
sorry
kind regards john routley

Re: VR3 Battery Caps

Hi,

Well, I'm also interested to change the battery plastic nut of my inspiration with something more solid if available. I see your point John regarding the VR3 battery cap so I guess nothing will be changed with that for now. But please let me know if you have new nuts for the inspiration battery compartment.
