For the VPM-B not I saw anyway, although talking to Delta P this week they expect to release in the next week or so.I have sold my Vr3 version 2.01 that was upgraded to version 3.03 and had a colour screen added to get the new version 3.03ab with the VPM-B option. I know many feel the costs for the VPM-B option are taking the piss but I sell Vr3's and consider them to be the best computer available thats my excuse for getting it and I am sticking to it and NO, I do not get it for FREE!! I will list the profiles when I get it but my understanding is you will only see major differences on dives that are deeper (90mts +) and longer (2hrs +). Cheers

Has Kevin added some extra convservation or is it a true deployment?? The new algorithm is based on VPM BE and depending on gas selection and dive depth and time, it will in some cases provide a reduced decompression requirement, although this is not always true. What the new algorithm does is smooth out the decompression profile. There are no deep micro-bubble stops and ‘normal’ decompression stops begin much deeper. Generally speaking, the intermediate stops are longer compared with the standard VR algorithm and shallower stops are shorter. A unique feature of the V1 upgrade is that, once it is enabled, divers can switch to the algorithm they prefer for the type of diving they are doing, even in between dives if they wish. On every dive the VR3 records tissue and bubble states using both algorithms so divers can swap between the two without compromising their ability to switch back. Cheers

![]() | Re: Vr3 VPM-B latest info from Delta P FYI... I dive O/C on tables cut from V-Planner, and have had nothing but success (!) I was waiting for the VPM algorithm to become available for the VR3 Now that I have made my move and bought a proper 3 gas deco computer, I'm happy to say that this exact news made me decide to NOT buy a VR-3. Very sexy unit, yes. Bad doggy support. Hydrospace Engineering, take my money, please.

Darlene Yup, me too. I hope the nice English guy I swapped my VR3 for the HE with is not looking for the "optional" upgrade... I'm very happy with my HE. Just got back from a trip to Indonesia and my dive buddy had a VERY old VR3, the ones that look like they're made out of pot metal. He was supposed to have "upgraded" to the VPMB-E, but spent his money on a new Evo instead. I consistantly had 20 minutes less deco than he did, even with my RGBM alg on middle conservatism...Yikes. His TTS would constantly change and when he switched to OC air for some shallow dives, from Tmix CCR, it was even slower to update the TTS. It sounds to me like the processor in the old VRs is just too slow to deal with all the different scenerios that can come up in multi day repetitive diving. This looks more likely when you find out that a new board is needed for the additional computing power necessary for the VPMB-E alg. If this is true, then I'd say that it's not an "optional" upgrade at all as that would mean that the original processor was only just adequet for the original alg and any significant changes-which should be expected-would need expensive hardware changes. I agree that Delta P should ditch the "Last computer you'll ever need" slogan. No need to rub it in. -Andy |
