![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Sealing Fisher Connectors That would be bizarre, but the probability is not zero. Much more likely is that it is damaged. Not knowing that an O-ring is there might mean that it has not been looked after. Missing would manifest is self as leaking the first hour in the water .... so I agree with you damaged is more like it.I have had a very senior instructor swear blind that there is no O-ring in a direct feed hose connector ... and wonder why it leaked. You are not alone. BWD but it does not change the fact that I don't see it..... is it recessed? |

![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Sealing Fisher Connectors Refer to Stephanes post and take a good gander at the top left assembly in the pic he posted. That is pretty much your VR3 Fischer receptacle. The O-ring (Item 4) is indeed recessed and probably 1/3 or less will be visible proud of the inner surface of the receptacle and quite a way down towards the bottom. You may need an eye-glass and a small light to see it clearly. Ray.

The O-ring and the fisher connectors have been covered in detail many times over, do a search and you will find out more about the "hidden" o-ring.but it does not change the fact that I don't see it..... is it recessed?

I found that grease keeps everything uncorroded and also gives the water nowhere to go. For what it's worth, I think the pic Stephane posted is excellent and a mod all users should make. If you want to see what happens to a VR£ cable unsealed then look here. Monkey, do check the cabling if you're getting dodgy readings because that's exactly what the symptoms were for my cable. Don't forget that corrosion can creep up from the molex end (just like on an Inspo) because of the crimp exposing the inner conductor. It's a crap connection method. If I were to go back to using VR£ for 4th cell, I'd undo the gland, drill out the potting and replace it with a sealed SMB connector. HTH

![]() | Re: Sealing Fisher Connectors is there a way to Seal the fisher connector so it stops being the weak link on my VR3? I have a URM.... and water egres into the connector made me call a dive. Grease ? silicon? hack it off and change it to some other fitting?? Monkey I had a similar thing happen to me during my Training... After sending the unit back to Delta-P, here is what I was told: 1) They got a bad batch of Fischer connectors 2) They didn't know the batch was bad until they started getting returns 3) They haave been in contact with the Fischer people and have replaced their stock 4) My VR3 and URM have been repaired (at no cost) using a different batch of connectors. I haven't had the chance to dive my unit yet with the new parts, but the connectors look shiney and new ![]() If your unit is fairly new (as all URM's probably are) you may want to look into getting the parts replaced by the factor. And it doesn't hurt to do some/all of the sealing suggestions either :P |
