![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | hey guys, i kept seeing posts about the newer versions of VR3s and a lot of complaints. at first i thought it was a thing to get their reputation, as i consider them probably the best dive computers today. i had a bit of time in my hands and thought of playing around with my 2nd new VR3 2007 version, and it seems is dead.... i'll try and change the battery, or i'll be really really mad.... Any of you had these issues? Spyros

When I tested it for a trip it was completely dead. I replaced the battery and everything was fine and dandy. -p Last edited by PaulTG2 : 7th November 2007 at 01:34. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: VR3 3 weeks old and is dead!!! thanks for that. i've tried the battery, but did not have any of those 3.6 lithium ones, so i tried a second hand of the normal AA 1.5 batteries and it worked. problem is that is gone back to factory reset... the good thing is that is working. i'll never be using those lithium ones again.something not good about them. Cheers. Spyros

Cheers. Spyros They could be fine with colour screen because it need more energy. Most of time those problems are related to the battery but because it is trapped in the battery cap. Try to take the plastic away from the battery eventually. Best, Nad

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: VR3 3 weeks old and is dead!!! Spyros, unfortunately you will have to use the 3.6V battery if you have a Spectrum (colour screen) if you want to do more than a few dives on one battery. If it's a B&W screen the 1,5V AA should work ok but I still like the lithiums. I bought a set of 10 of these Lithium Batteries for Rebreathers from DRE. They always work and it comes to $5.50 a battery which is pretty cheap. I'm sure the Rebreather World store carries them too. There are a lot of crap batteries out there which is why I always check mine with a volt meter but even then, if they are crap still, they can crash pretty fast. Tibby

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: VR3 3 weeks old and is dead!!! I use the Energizer 1.5V Lithium AA batteries, cheap & commonly available and last long enough for most extended dive trips (I have a colour screen) |

![]() | Re: VR3 3 weeks old and is dead!!! I am in the same boat, my new VR3 died after about a week of diving, I put in the spare lithium that had come with it and it would not even boot up. I eventully put a standard 1.5V AA in and it has been fine for sometime... Perhaps a bad batch of Lithium batteries?

Spyros Mesuring with a voltmeter dont help a lot because the beginning of lowering voltage is very close to death more specially on a device who need a lot of power like the colour screen VR3. |

Spyros, When I had my computer (color screen) I used only 1,5V Duracells and they seemed last two times the time as betteries on the YBOD. I allways had the back lights on under water.unfortunately you will have to use the 3.6V battery if you have a Spectrum (colour screen) if you want to do more than a few dives on one battery.
