| VR3 issue - software questions Hello all, i want to have your thoughts on the following. i already use one VR3 with VPM and version 5.0. now, i thought it would be best to have another one, exactly the same in because i mostly dive solo due to absence of a Rebreather buddy. i know that there are an update available, or newer version VR3s. do you think it would be ok to find the same one(Version 5.0) in terms of the newer ones having latest software, or should i get the latest one (i think c4 something) and ugrade my older one. in any terms, what would the costs be? thanks in advace to all of you. Spyros

| Re: VR3 issue - software questions I faced that same decision. The question you need to be asking is: Do they both use the same ALGORITHM? My working unit is a 'just' pre-VPM 7 pin color unit. The backup is my first VR3, an old 2 pin OMS branded unit. I made very certain before buying the new one that both would give the same deco given the same pressure exposure. The bells & whistles are quite different, but if the primary craps out, the secondary is good to go. If they both die, the timer & tables are also along for the ride. Ken

The main thing that i am thinking, apart from having the same algorithm off course, is the software functions. don't know if the newer versions, have shortcuts, or other features, but i am thinking that if i am on the bottom and for some reason i bail out, or change gas, then i would need to set the VR3 to either bail out gases accordingly. if one procedure is different than the other, then i am thinking that there maybe be a failure point, in terms of time waste, confusion, getting it wrong, which if you realise immediately then fine, but if later, it would probably create stress etc... What do you think? am waiting for other responses as well. i have been told that it would be the same price for a newer 2007 version, as well as the same as i've got. this is the main points am after. Thanks again. Spyros

| Re: VR3 issue - software questions Have the 2007 version which allows you to have your bail out gases loaded in profile B. If you have to come off the loop it's a simple case to switch to your bail out with one button press as opposed to enabling gases on an individual basis in a profile on the earlier versions of the software. When you're task loaded already it's reassuring that the VR3 is simplifying your ascent based on all the gases you now have available. |

| Re: VR3 issue - software questions I'd give DeltaP a quick email and see what the upgrade costs are then you can make a decision. VR3 tends to sell quite well whatever their age! |

| Re: VR3 issue - software questions I will make it three. Unfortunately I have nothing to contribute as i have no idea what you are talking about, not owning one VR£ let alone two. I hope this goes some way to allay your strop. ![]() ![]() |
