Re: VR3 wrist strap modification suggestion wanted...

Hi

I use a Buddy Inspiration (Classis) Console strap to replace the VR3 one. Fit exactly into the old slots, this allow for the VR3 to be tightend as tight a you want - No effort to switch between dry-suit and wet suit. Just to make sure I the added a normal lanyard which I strung through the little hole with the metal pin (Left hand top I think)

Cheers Toors

Re: VR3 wrist strap modification suggestion wanted...

Hello,

Hard to mount a brick on an arm and have it stay put...

I took a camera wrist strap (the kind with a loop that tightens with a button) and used the safety pin mount on the VR3 to provide a back-up loop that will catch the VR3 if it does fall off. Provides some extra protection for the expensive piece of kit.

I'd like to get something I can mount the VR3 on and attached it on a D ring. Still trying to figure out what would be best.. particularly now that I'm adding a 4th cell on the Meg.

VR3 / Explorer - use wrist strap or hang from chest?

Does anyone hang their computer from a chest D-ring using a retractor?

If your worried about the strap coming undone, just put a cable tie round clips to each other (permantly leaving the clips locked together) you can still loosen and tighten by pulling on the excess strap to make getting on and off easy,

Wroked for me on my VR3 for the last 4yrs, and have never botherd with a lanyard

Re: VR3 wrist strap modification suggestion wanted...

Well, I just bloody hate those lanyard thingies round your wrist. They seem to have a nasty habit of being loose all the time, and generally asking to get caught on a bit of wreck or the like.

So I got a spare old wrist seal and cut a snoopy loop out of the bigger end. It's about an inch wide, and really stretchy.

Then a small cable tie through the little retainer bit that everyone sticks their lanyard through, and she's on.

It won't twist because the rubber grips against your suit, it won't loosen because it's stretchy, and there's no manky loop to get caught on things. Plus in a major bit hurry I could snap the rubber if I really really wanted to, say I was caught up on it or something. But it's never going to break until I decide to do it, and I'd have to be pretty determined.

Oh, and you can't barely see it too so it doesn't stick out like a big manky yellow strap in photos etc.

And it doesn't need adjusting for different suits, wet or dry or skin, and I have a ready supply of them in the form of an old wrist seal. Winner.

If I got all excited one evening I could even fit one as the main strap, but then I'm not that fussed about the existing, it seems to work ok as a backup to the snoopy.

Digs.
