I have it piggy backed on a one of the Shearwater cells, and it has operated without issue for 2 weeks. Last night, mid dive, the PO2 "stuck". When I unplug the Fischer connector, mV drops from 72 to 0. When I unplug the cell, mV reading stays at 72. Turning the power on and off on the HUD has no affect? Any ideas? Thanks in advance for all suggestions- |

I just had a brand new VR show altitude -70.000 m on boot up and then after air cal it showed AIR 21% AND PO2 0.17 BAR?!?! The only thing that helped was to unplug the battery and start over. No it's fine. Andy My VR3 seems to have become possessed.... I have it piggy backed on a one of the Shearwater cells, and it has operated without issue for 2 weeks. Hi Ryan, did you have the VR3 with the 7pin Fisher ? on the 7pin Fischer there ist on one pin a Batterycurrent from about 5 Volts (to supply external devices). Wenn some Water (expect saltwater) comes on the plug there should be an shorten from the current pin to any other pin (also the sensor inlet) and this is enough to get the reading stuck. best is to dry and clean the plugs and use some kind of contact cleaning spray. Sometimes you see the current plug runs black. Holger

No, the output is fixed, and doesn't change if a cell is unhooked, or if the gas being analyzed is changed. Hi Ryan, I would suggest cleaning your I/O port connectors with some white vinegar or as Holger mentioned some contact cleaning spray. Also check the lead connections and clean them if necessary you should also inspect the Oxygen Sensor pins and the lead connections for any signs of 'green' corrosion that would indicate water ingress. As you mention you have already left the battery out but this works best if you leave the battery out for at least 24 hours, although you should download any dive info you wish to keep before removing the battery because it will be lost when the battery is removed.

| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: VR3 & Shearwater HUDIssue... Thanks for all the help guys, I really appreciate it. Desoldered the Shearwater HUD, didn't work. Tried resetting the I/O port by leaving the battery out overnight, didn't work. Tried cleaning contacts w/ deoxit, didn't work. Went to Dive Rite Express and tried another cable, which functions properly, so the short is in the cable. There has definitely been some water ingress in the connector. I keep cameras dry for a living, but this little Fischer connector is humbling... |
