Hs Explorer Vrs Vr3

Hello
Does anybody out there dive with an HS EXPLORER and their buddy dive with a VR3 or vicer verser?
I am thinking about buying an HS EXPLORER and have a few questions.
1. Do they do the same deep stops at the same depth?
2. Do they run on roughly the same times for the stops?
At the monent I dive O/c trimix not rebreather.
Thanks Alan

Alan,

I think Simon K dives with a HS Explorer. Try pm'ing him.

Re: Hs Explorer Vrs Vr3

You can download the HSE simulator from the HS site and Proplaner from somewhere on the boris web site (there's a post with a link on here somewhere) and then run the two to get an idea.

I believe that the HSE running Buhlman on setting 9 will be in the same ball park as the VR3.
If you run RGBM on the HSE and VPM on the VR3 they are going to diverge pretty quick as you get deeper.

Out of interest I ran the same dive trough a bunch of different software.

The profile is 111m for 25 min on 10/60. Its not a dive I'm ever likely to do but most algorithms agree with each other on a 50m dive so you don't get to see the differences.

so: 111m 25min 10/60

Code:
Prog Model Cons Time To Surface
GAP RGBM 0, +2 172, 200
GAP Buhl 20/80 271
DD Plan Buhl 20/80 220
Vplanner VPM-B 0, +5 169, 224
Vplanner VPM-B/E 0, +5 204, 226
VR3 Bhul 0 227
VR3 VPM 0 264
HSE RGBM 0, 2 168, 185
HSE Buhl 3, 9 163, 231
So that 100 minutes difference in TTS between the HSE on setting 0 and the VR3 on VPM 0.

Simon

Edit: Maybe I should have sold you my Explorer before posting this!! If you decide you do want one let me know - its probably as good as the VR3 on Buhlman settings and you get the 4th cell, simulator and PC link all in the package.

You should also post what version of the explorer you have.. there are 3 main revisions of the rgbm settings and the give results.. The earlies is the most agressive..

The numbers posted came from the simulator 4.0.3/5.7 date 06/23/06. My explorer has Version 4.07.8 software.

On the other hand, my buddy and I each use two of them and all 4 have been quite reliable.

Re: Hs Explorer Vrs Vr3

Hi Alan
I use a trimix explorer and love it !
Easy to set up and visible in the water .
used a vr3 and just couldnt see the info !!
The explorer comes with several differant dive tables you can choose for differant dives.
Cant understand why people like the vr3?
