One of my VR3s has also lost a line of pixels across the centre of the screen sounds like a common fault with them.

I had a look at the colour screen but I cant see the point its just a gimic. If its true it cant be read with a torch ts a dangerous gimic too. The B&W ones work just fine.

Appart from the loss of pixle lines that is

How many times does the same falt have to hapen to make it a manufacturing error rather than a user error?

I only bought my VR3 recently. I had the opportunity to compare the colour and B/W versions side by side. Yes the colour version is nice but, in my opinion, was not worth the considerable price differential. So I went with the B/W.

Looking at the manual, , Delta-P say they offer a one year guarantee for 'bona fide manufacturing faults' but do not cover damage to the case, screen or switches from operation.

Faulty screen should be covered by guarantee (if the VR3 is less than a year old).
If not ......

I just did a bad job in 5 cm viz. I have to say that the color screen is fantastic in such conditions.

Just for interest, my screen has managed to fix itself. Didn't do anything to it, didn't spend any money, just booted it up one day, and the missing row of pixels was back.

REALLY quite glad that I didn't send it back for a replacement now!

same problem with my buddy's VR3: central rows (4mm) missing, and still missing: did not solve itself :-)

Just to add Andyp s vr3 had a line of pixels go over the W/end. The centre line???

This looks VERY much like a build issue rather than a user issue. The units are over 12months old (bout 18months by my reckoning) so no warrantee cover. However this problem happens to so many units it must surely be down to Deltap to sort out. The dammed thing costs about £1000 so you kind of expect it to last more than 12 months .

and another one

I had a row of dead pixels across the screen too - made it hard to read my PO2 but could turn the display upside down which helped!
Delta P fixed it as a warranty repair - not sure if it was within 12 months or not.
They explained it happens when a connector pin disconnects on the display (eg if dropped) so if its happened to yours and "fixed itself" it will probably reappear as there will be a loose connection which just happens to be connecting now! If it prevented you reading anything vital underwater I'd recomend sending it to be fixed anyway

Can't say I have gone down that route yet, but I would suggest you borrow Andy's to practice with first!!
I have seen a small handfull of unit's with this problem and I have shipped them back to Delta P for repair, only one unit has incurred a charge and we paid that.
Can you send it back to Delta P and let them take a look at it, if you need a Vr3 while yours is away let me know and I will get demo unit to you.
If you go down the DIY route have a bottle of whiskey handy "Just in case".

Cheers
