Yes, I have checked - it worked!

Good to know - thank you. Hoping not to be in the situation where the URM dies though. See, I'm being pessimistic and I haven't even got it yet

Would really like to check it out.

Next week I am going to Väjern (Smögen/kunghamn). If you like it is probably possible for you to join!

Otherwise I sometimes do some diving in "Vagnhärads brottet" as I live quite near.

I will e-mail my phone number to you.

Re: Universal Rebreather Monitor Review

so if i understand it right:

if i want to modify my classic kiss (which has no secondary o2 port) to the urm i need to get a new kidney from jetsam. cost is CAD373$ or 256 euro.

the 3 cell backup display isnt included in the urm. it comes for an additional 660 euro.

additional i need to get a vr3 ccr (as i dont have one yet). for a top model thats another 1066 euro.

the urm is sold here for 1022 euro.

total: 3004 euro or GBP2243£ OR USD4424$.

questions:

from what i understand, it is possible to connect the triple backup display directly to the clasic kiss kidney?

the backup display switches off after 20-30 seconds? is there a way around it to keep it on?

if i want the urm hud i need the vr3 as it runs it. if latter fails i also lose the hud.

besides that i opt for uris hud (Underwater Experiences - Rebreather Guardian - Rebreather independence), which runs independent and gives a bit more options. the cost is GBP800£ or 1071 euro.

my plan is now to get the kidney, the backup dispaly and uris hud.

cost: 1987 euro (excluding shipping).

as i dont have a spare o2 port on my old kiss how would i connect uris hud?

do i make sense???

Re: Universal Rebreather Monitor Review

The math for the URM sounds about right, it's very nice but quite expensive.
Don't know much about the Uri HUD, I'm afraid.

Alternatives would be the Shearwater Pursuit ($1745/€1215) combined with
a Shearwater HUD ($700/€474). The latter is independent, own battery, own
calibration, 3 LEDs signaling the pO2 (rather than warnings). So it's a secondary
display, rather than a repeat display. Can also be combined with SubSea's
pO2 display (AUS$813/€490) if you want a "normal" pO2 display.

As far as connecting it to the CK, Bruce offers kidney's ($450/€305) as well
as complete kit for the CK. He has a gallery with various KISS setups on
the Shearwater website. Check for current prices.

Re: Universal Rebreather Monitor Review

You can also get a Subsea setup - CK head with a display, HUD and a 7 pin cable to hook up a Shearwater. The display is rocksolid, the HUD asimple green good / red check the display, and you get real time deco off the Shearwater averaging all 3 cells.

Works a treat - or will when I get the Shearwater cable... For now I use a fixed PO2 on the Shearwater and love it.

cheers

Andy
