VR3 Problems.

On the last couple of dives i've done my VR3 has been throwing up what i would consider to be crazy numbers.

I was diving last weekend - 2nd dive of the day 30m for about 30min (1st dive was 36m for 40min total SI of a couple of hours). on heading up the shot the computer was showing 9min TTS with a first stop at 19m for 2min. After this stop the TTS cleared completely and the NST started going from -999 to -1 and basically up and down randomly.

Then yesterday the same happened. 1st dive was 30m for 50min total SI again a couple of hours then 2nd dive to 18m for 50min total. NST on the 2nd dive was around -380 and on the way up was going up and down again randomly. On all these dives i was using 18/27 dil.

Has anyone else experienced problems such as this? I think i'll give Delta-p a ring to see what they say.

Cheers

James.

Re: VR3 Problems.

I had something similar quite a while ago. I do not remember exatly, but the VR3 started to display incredibly high and irrelevant deco time...
I was using 2.1 software version, since I upgraded to 3.03 and I did not sse it happen anymore.
What version are you using ?

Im still using 2.1, when they reprogramed it they changed the sequance of button pushed that puts it into test mod....what i dont get is how they can alow these computers to ever go into test mode wile in dive mode sounds way to dangous to me.

You surely find the sequence to unlock the debug mode... I think you should consider the latest 3.03 upgrade, it may solve your problem. I do not have anymore issue.

Re: VR3 Problems.

My VR3 has Buhlmann/VPM-B software, and it gives BS deco times, such as twice the length @ 3m, according to VPM-B and it's own dive planning mode.

The old one I had, before throwing it overboard initially gave really stupid numbers, like -13 conservatism, 38m & 28m deep stops before going up to 6m (on a 45m dive) etc. etc. etc. It got5 a software upgrade, and all was well - apart from its suicidal tendancies to go for solo dives...

Sooo, how's the liquid vision computer going, I wonder.

Re: VR3 Problems.

My VR3 (v2.1 CXR) saga is quite a sad one .

In spite of 2 send backs to the UK (and 2 Malaysian customs gauntlets), it occasionally resets itself, erasing all tissue data, and sometimes losing its CCR Tmx mode to a basic Nitrox computer only. This usually on the deco dives.

Needless to say, I'm a gauge-timer slate man.

Can't find the heart in myself to spend more good money after bad , to upgrade it to something else.

If delta-P are willing to provide me a brand new unit, I might cough up the price of an upgrade.

On the other hand, Delta-P have been very good at responding (albeit ineffectively) to this units problems.

Re: VR3 Problems.

Delta-p are communicating very well at present with my problem, which is excesive deco time. (Just ask Bazza, he's still cursing me! )

At the moment, there is a vast difference between what you get in dive planner mode and in real life diving - almost 100% more deco.

Besides not wanting to effectively do a second dive at 6m, this sort of thing is going to make one very unpopular on dive boats...

Re: VR3 Problems.

I pressume you had it set to a 1.3 setpoint.

When the VR3 enters deco it suddenly jumps up, as it adds the deco stop, and then microbubble stops. As these are intended to smooth out your ascent on deco dives.

At 30m you have 2 mins ascent time, if you then add a 6m stop of a minute it will add a 2min stop at 18m then possibly another at 12m. It would depnd on your actual max depth. Then if you ascend you will clear the deco (especially on a CCR) at the 18m stop, so the other bubble stop will vanish and the deco so you will suddenly get your no stop time buiding up.

Not sure if this is an error in the VR3 or the way its designed to work.
