Expedition on the footpath of Rommel

In 2010 from June 6th to June 20th, « ABYSS Underwater World Explorers » organizes a new expedition in the region of Cap Bon in Tunisia.

Under the code name « Pedestal 2010 », this new exploration phase belongs to a larger campaign whose mission is to find, list, picture and film major wrecks from WWII in the Mediterranean basin. These wrecks concern ships involved in the conflicts between Rommel troops and the Allies in North Africa.

The research areas range from the coastlines of Algeria to the coastlines of Egypt through Tunisia, Sicily, Malta, and Libya. A first expedition went in Tunisia last summer and successfully explored several wrecks.

The main targets of the new expedition « Pedestal 2010 » are situated in the Kebilia zone of the North of Tunisia, and concern essentially the ships sunk during the Pedestal Operation of August 1942.

A dozen of wrecks, in a depth of 50 m to 100 m, are on the diving menu of that new expedition.

The international team will be made of a maximum of 10 Trimix divers with deep diving experience. Two underwater photographers and one underwater cameraman will be part of the team to record the exploration.

The organizers are looking for any type of support and partnership, technical or financial, to help the expedition to achieve the targeted world premieres.
