| French Erik Current Rebreather/s: | the Wreck of the Pinthis (video included) You guys know me, I am always up for the deep, cold, long challenging dives. So when an opportunity came along to dive the wreck of the Pinthis, I jumped on it. The wreck is nearly 100 feet of deep freezing waters (barely hitting high 40s), a rough (flat seas) and long (40 minutes) trip from the (rich and prosperous) town of Scituate MA. In any case, my buddy Sam and I drove down that morning of the fifteen of August, 2008, from Boston to Scituate. Sam was diving his Meg and I dove my O2ptima. Except for the fact that my VR3 shut down at 30 feet, the dive was pretty great, the weather gorgeous. The Pinthis is a great turtled oil tanker, which you can penetrate through and through. Plenty of cods inside, a few lobsters and large crabs as well as sunflower seastars. Also saw a very large flounder, not that Sam would care he only loves rusting metal ![]() It was my first attempt at taking a video of a boat dive and using my video lights so please be nice: Wreck of the Pinthis on Vimeo (I am iteratively working on editing this video so should the link stop working, you'll find it at: Erik Dasque on Vimeo ). If you're a rebreather diver in new england, make sure to let us know and we'll dive together ! Dive data: dive 1: 99 ft - 43 mins - 46.5 degrees dive 2: 100 ft ! - 39 mins - 46.5 degrees |

I'm looking forward to seeing some of that warm water Bahamas video in September. Keep up the good work and thanks for sharing! Adrian

| Re: the Wreck of the Pinthis (video included) Very nice video! IF you will accept it here's some hopefully constructive critizism, from a layman: * I miss the divesounds - there's only music. If the theres any sound captured in the recording of: people mumbling in the loop, solenoid, venting etc, it adds a more underwater feel to a video, if its still on the soundtrack (keyed down perhaps?) * long descend. * Very nice wreck fotage, but if copyright permits then a short title/intro to the wreck would make the video more able to stand on its own. Hope you accept theese subjective points - loved it. Nicolai

| French Erik Current Rebreather/s: | Re: the Wreck of the Pinthis (video included) Nicolai: those are all very valid remarks, I will take them into account. An upcoming liveaboard trip will allow me to improve my skills. sfldiver: get over the cold already and come dive where we have real wrecks with dead people inside ! ScubaDadMiami: don't you dive dry suit all the time ? I wasn't cold one bit to tell you the truth, my new Viking 400 undergarnment is awesome. |

| Re: the Wreck of the Pinthis (video included) Cool. Good form on the uw filming. I do like to hear a little of the dive sounds. What camera/housing are you using? Here is my first attempt to do a YOUTUBE video of my dive on the USS Oriskany in Pensacola Florida.....A bit warmer water. |
