| SAGA Current Rebreather/s: | Hi all, I was glad to participate in my first DIRrebreather expedition this july. It was quite an experience. We've been diving 2 sisterships in Mallorca Island in Spain. It's not every day that I have the chance to dive 2 deep wrecks that are quite similar, sunk at the same depth (roughly 95m), at the same time (the same day during second world war) and within a couple of hundred meters from each other. Their names are Pegaso and Impetuoso and they were Italian Fregates. So beginning of July, I went there with enthusiasm. After a day in the train (I live on the french Cote d'Azur) and the ferry boat, I arrive in Palma de Mallorca where I was welcomed by the rest of the team: Per Bjorn, a Norvegian Instructor and his friend Jan, Marc a spanish Meg diver, Gian from Mallorca, Antoine and Thierry also from France, and Cedric my husband. We had a lot of fun preparing the rebreathers, the shotline, the bailout tanks and everything we should need. Every day was an early departure as we had to travel by car up to the north of island, to Puerto Pollenca, where our diving boat was located. On the 1st day, we were so early that the local harbour guard didn't want to let us go. I think he used a little too much of the local alcohol as he was very aggressive and needed 7 spanish policemen to calm down. During that time, we loaded the dive boat we rented for a few days and headed to where the 2 wrecks are lying. Visibility was great with plenty of light even at 100m. The temperature was a little bit surprising as it was around 13C on the bottom and 23C near the surface, so it was quite a relief to reach the shallower stops at the end of the dives. All the guys had their drysuit with thick undergarments and I was the only one with a semi- dry suit (my dry suit just broke down) and the only woman also! The two wrecks are simply great, gently lying on their side, quite well preserved, with their full load of guns, artifacts, fishes. They were not damaged during their sinking, as they were both scuttled by their italian crew to avoid being taken by their enemies. All the dives went smoothly and all the other rebreather divers (mainly Megalodon, as I was the only Evolution diver) enjoyed the wrecks as well. Per Bjorn shot a nice video (you can see it at http://www.dirrebreather.com/expeditions/wreckexpe.php) and I will try to write a more complete report of this expedition. Have fun. Cheers,

| Re: Expedition to Mallorca I've been there for holidays last year and get a dvd of the wrecks. How and how much did you find gases on island? They are quite expensive from the info I get. Thanks for your help. I've got a project on Ibiza (Carburo Metalico are sold on Ibiza too) David |
