| Re: InnerSpace 2008 I spent a week on grand Cayman diving with divetech and staying at cobalt coast resort. Though folks might like to hear about it. Good to here you got home alright. Even though I was in class the 250 and 300 ft dives were absolutely phenomenal. Hop to see you there next year and dive with big boys on the morning boat.i had a really great time, the whole idea is to get you and your Rebreather in one spot and keep you there. The beach, boats, diveshop, pool, restruant and rooms are all in about a 50 meter radius. literally its like a liveaboard boat on land. they have a full service dive shop, basically what ever you asked for they just said 'no worries'. I probably should have made some obscene requests just to see what would have happened. There was a mix of Rebreather divers, some mod1 guys like myself and two bunches of trimix divers, normoxic and scary deep guys. There were a few classes going as well, some new Rebreather guys, a sentinel class and an expeditition trimix class run by Tom Mount himself. The diving was really good, almost every morning i dove the house reef at around nine am (which had a deep wall if you wanted it, probably could have shore dove there all week and been happy) then a 1pm boat wall dive with usually a 2.5 hr run time. get back clean up dinner at six then a presentation or two from seven to nine. We saw spotted eagle rays on almost every dive, lots of fish and turtles. Vis was about 150 ft on average, except for one dive with some nasty upwellings and lots of sand being blown around. Overall it wasnt too expensive, would have been cheaper if i was diving mix tho i think. The only down points for me was it was tough to get in a night dive because the afternoon boat made fills tricky, i got a cold at the end of the week and i had to leave. Harvey SiscoKid |

| Re: InnerSpace 2008 What was the 'planned activity' for the morning...? All that for 5 x 2.5 hour single drop boat ride seems quite a bit of $$$... not exactly what I consider dive yer ass off..... I mean, if you went off and did a long shore dive in the morning, how set were you for the afternoon? Did you need fills, would they have been able to turn them around within reason...? -Tim I dove almost every morning, 70-80 min each. i was tending to keep run times down because i didnt want monster deco after the boat dive, tried to keep it under 25 min for sanity sake. The boat capt didnt mind a little hanging, but run time was suggested to be 140-150 min for the second dive. We had 40's for bail so that could be an issue if you rack a monster hang, you could wind up oog if you need to bail to oc. they have extra gas hanging but still smart is smart. That being said i never had problem with fills between the morning and afternoon dives, only when the boat came back and the staff was looking at a 5pm close did things get tight, but as long as you hustled to get them your bottles you were ok for air/o2. for mix they seemed to turn folks around fine for the next deep one, dont know how fast you could get mix for an afternoon dive but im guessing it wouldnt be an issue. every time a request was made it was fulfilled, i personally didnt push the envelope with requests but then when i;m on vacation i like to chill, not rock the boat. thats just me. |

| Re: InnerSpace 2008 Marv, if you swim out far enuff it seems to go for ever. plenty deep for any dive you'd want to do. really you could mix dive all week right off the beach. Thanks for the report. I wish I could have gone. I'm going to try for next year. Too many projects in the fires this year. Just for curiosity sake, how deep is the ledge off of the house reef? Do they have scooters available? Thanks, Eric |

| Re: InnerSpace 2008 I was there too. I felt that the staff, both of the dive shop, and the hotel staff really knocked themselves out to serve the guests. I actually feel guilty when people serve me so well. Whatever you needed, it was right there in a flash, as someone pointed out above. The house reef, with which I grew very familiar during my training, was as good a diving experience as I can remember anywhere. I was ceaselessly entertained by the sea life and the beautiful corals. I saw turtles, rays, eels, many barracudas, uncountable numbers of fish, even a black tip, diving from shore. I could have spent another week just diving that reef. A scoot is not necessary with a breather, and the trip out to the main wall is a beautiful dive. The price; I don't really have anything Caymanian to compare it to, but let's break it down. Food (excellent) and lodging for 7 days, $175 a day? = $1,225 Ground transfers to/from airport $50 each way = $100 = $1,325 gas fills let's say mix for kicks 6 days @ say, $10? = $60 = $1,385 Sorb fills 6 days @ lets say $25? = 150 = 1535 Boat dives 6 days @ 80 = $480 = $2015 etc etc Cost of trip $2300 plus air. Maybe it's not the best deal ever, but I met a bunch of great people, had a great time, and got a good tan. I intend to go back next year. And I'll have a song ready.

And by that, I mean working out a realistic cross over to ccr full mix. Thanks for the info. I've done Cayman in the past, but only rec OC. I don't suppose they will sell you mix with an OC Full Trimix card? I'm finding the need to sit through yet a 5th mix class at $1500. ![]() Steve ![]() |

I'm considering getting back that way this fall if the hurricane season isn't too active. I used to travel to GC every October back in my OC rec days. I'd love to get back down on the Meg. Eric
