He is very familiar with the area, lived there and also does cave expeditions. He checks Rebreather World daily. There is a Subic dive shop and the owners name Johan. They are setup for technical diving. Johan's Beach Resort - Subic Bay, Philippines Also see this thread on a Coron trip. The operator may be able to help you also. http://www.rebreatherworld.com/rebre...er-2008-a.html Hope that helps. I will be in Thailand and PI also in Sept-Nov so I will be interested to hear your advise. John |

Coron has some good wrecks but subic is better IMO. Best tech dive center in Subic is Johans. most wrecks 30mins to 1hr speedboat ride from Johans He also does accomodation, sorb, He, o2 and booster Best operator in Coron (only now?) would be Gunter at Discovery divers, O2 no booster Last Subic trip info/pics:- Drmike : photos : Subic bay, Philippines - Jan 2006- powered by SmugMug

![]() ![]() | Re: Philippines, Coron info wanted PG is practically just reef, best wreck diving is in subic. Coron has some good wrecks but subic is better IMO. Coron is a internal flight from manila or a long slow boat ride. Its very sleepy once you get there and tech/Rebreather diving not as well established as the other places.Best tech dive center in Subic is Johans. most wrecks 30mins to 1hr speedboat ride from Johans He also does accomodation, sorb, He, o2 and booster Best operator in Coron (only now?) would be Gunter at Discovery divers, O2 no booster Last Subic trip info/pics:- Drmike : photos : Subic bay, Philippines - Jan 2006- powered by SmugMug For Subic (I also prefer the wrecks here and they are much more accessible than from most resorts in Coron) try boardwalk dive center - got the most reliable set up that I have seen in Subic area and George the owner is a great guy who will go out of his way to look after you, lastly he is closer to the wrecks For PG and Rebreather you wanna be at LLBC or more recently Dive Dojo with Daddy. ![]() | Re: Philippines, Coron info wanted Matt You got my vote on Johans as the best place to go. Excellent food, nice rooms, make sure you book in advance. Johan has been there for ages diving the wrecks and tec diving. andibk |

![]() | Re: Philippines, Coron info wanted Matt There are alot of wrecks in the recreational limits. There are some good stuff to dive in the 70 meter range also. I believe there is a Maru and also a bomber. Check out DrMikes photos I believe I seen some pics of the wrecks on his site. Johans does have nitrox, trimix and a variety size of tanks. You might want to email him and make sure he has some small 3 liter tanks for you. and sorb he can supply for you. andibk |

Coron is a bit of a hassle to get to, I have been thinking of going for some time, but cannot be bothered to get the seaplane flight or slum it on the superferry from Manila. My schedule always conspires against me. I prefer dive sites that I can reach by road from Manila. For PG diving i suggest LLBC at Sabang. The diving close inshore at PG can be good but nothing to write home about. Theres some awesome, high current dives round the corner, but not for the faint of heart ![]() For Subic, lots of good wrecks. I vote for Johan. He has been there ages, and I have done trimix dives with Johan. I bumped into andibk once there who seemed to be at home ![]() Remember, rebreather divers are rare here, you must give the dive operator *plenty* of notice to get tanks and sorb in. Be prepared to dive OC if something doesnt pan out.

My schedule always conspires against me. I prefer dive sites that I can reach by road from Manila. I went to Coron last October and had such a great time I decided to run my own trip there this year...in October. There is a link to the thread in one of the early posts to this topic. As for getting there it's no big deal and certainally isn't a hassle. Fly out of Manilla on a 30 odd seater (we went on a Dash7) and then it's a 1 hr ride in a Jeepnee to the Coron township and port. Jump on the boat and 45mins later you are at Sangat Island sipping a nice cold coconut and deciding which wreck you are going to dive that afternoon. I still have a couple of spots available if anyone is interested as I over booked in case there was anyone else who wanted to join us.
