| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Tenerife Got back from a weeks diving with Dive 24-7 in Tenerife and want to comment on how first-rate this trip was. Smcmullan in his post of the 17 December pretty much sums up the whole experience. Getting there was cheep and painless with swineair. I paid 45 yoyo extra for the Rebreather create and there was no issue with baggage weight. When I arrived at Tenerife airport David and Nicky collected me and dropped at the dive centre were we assembled the gear and got ready for diving the next day. The dive centre is excellent with a lift for bringing the gear down to the changing area, no messing around carrying gear. The accommodation at Westhaven bay apartments is outstanding, there is a bar, restaurant and supermarket on site, only a short drive from the dive centre and marina. The houses are very clean and comfortable Dave and Nicky picked me up each morning and we went diving. There is no hard work in this or long drives just load the bus 10 minutes drive and a very short walk down the pontoon to the boat. Between dives the café on the marina serves great food Spanish omelette or the fried sardines are highly recommended. This week was important to me as I had just finished the Mod 1 course with Stephen Philips of TDI (see below for course review) and was/am a complete novice on the unit. Dave was an excellent dive buddy providing good advice and tips on diving and maintaining my unit. The dive sites were all very interesting and vary between some small wrecks and amazing rock formations. There is plenty to see or photograph, link below is for my trip photos, including some photos of the coast guard vessel which ran aground. Trip Photos Diving with Dive 24-7 Tenerife was an excellent experience, David and Nicky are superb hosts and it was a pleasure to spend the week diving with them. If any one is thinking of heading away for a week of diving I would recommend that you check out Dive 24-7 and contact Nicky or David see their web site Dive24-7 Tenerife MOD 1 Training In December I completed the Rebreather Air Diluent course with Stephen Philips of TDI. I really took to Stephens teaching style, he is succinct in this instruction and briefings and will challenge a student to demonstrate his learning on every dive after demonstrating and practice of the skills. We spent time striping and rebuilding the unit and covering theory. The course was enjoyable but challenging and opened my eyes in relation to how little I know about rebreathers and diving closed circuit even after all the reading and research I done prior to the course. Stephen is a top guy and provided a meticulous level of instruction I was very happy with. Steve can be contacted at this email address. tdisdiuk@aol.com Derek
