Yes, what was the bailout plan?
Charlie & I carried 2 side slung cylinders, 2 x Ali 80's in my case of Trimix, I had 8/70 & 15/50. We were gased to reach the deep support diver @ 50m.

Deco gas was carried by the support divers, oxygen was used at 6m with trimix with increasing O2 & decreasing He for the others. The gases used meant the bailout profile was near enough the normal CCR ascent.

A drop set was also available if a diver had to deploy a DSMB from depth & sent up a yellow bag.

I used the Vision for deco, following the deco ceiling rather than doing traditional stops.

Did you run pure 02 at the end of deco if so for how long?
I didn't go OC O2, although I know there is a school of thought that says it's a good idea. Anyone do this?

I did come up to 3m (as surface conditions allowed) flushing loop with O2 from 4.5m. As Vision trips set point to low value (0.7) when 100% O2 detected, I continued in O2 rebreather mode for about last 30mins keeping SP @ 1.3.

Hi Mate

What was the difference between the VR3 and the Vision (when the vision cleared) and what conservatism did you have the VR3 set at??

That's a good long list of questions!

Jon and I used 5/90 GF on our Visions.

Dive 2 my CNS got to 123% and as the Vision alarms from 3 hrs onwards didn't think we needed more O2 in our system so didn't increase O2 beyond 1.3.

The 21 & 23 min bottom times are standard definitions of the time ie surface to beginning of ascent. I released the pellet at 8 mins on Dive 2 so Jon and I had 15 mins on wreck.

We discussed at length whether to use a lower setpoint prior to shallow decompression but looking at various decompression programmes seemed to confirm that it would make little difference overall. We ended up adopting the KISS principle.

1.3 setpoint used therefore throughout dive.

Tempsticks showed plenty of life remaining in Vision scrubbers. I had a look at other Vision handsets whilst on the 6m deco bar and this was the case with the other Visions being used.

Jon and I discussed whether we could use our scrubbers again the next day for shallow safety diver role but we went (sensibly) for the cautious option of new sofnolime.

On the Friday, I spent 2 hrs 10 mins doing 6m safety diver stuff so this probably proves that our caution was right.

It would have been a little ironic if one of the safety divers had needed rescuing at 6m

Neither Jon or I did air breaks, we didn't think they were necessary in our instance. I saw Simon doing an air break and he did his off loop. His CNS was up to 140% so that was probably what prompted him to do an air break.

Longest dive (4 hrs) was on tables which were a very conservative option compared to the Visions.

My VR3 was forced through all of its formal deco stops and was 20 mins AHEAD of my Vision computer when I arrived at 6m! It then ended up clearing just 5 mins ahead of the Vision. If you used a VR3 only and did all of its stops then you were in the water a long, long time compared to the Vision deco software.

Anything else?

It was well weird

I followed the Vision but gently, remaining several metres beneath its ceiling and completely ignored, in real terms, my VR3.

I arrived at the deco bar at 6m with my VR3 20 minutes ahead of my Vision but that 20 mins was slowly whittled down to 5 mins by the time my Vision had cleared.

I wasn't the only one who experienced this

VR3 set to zero conservatism, 1.3 setpoint, not linked to 4th cell.

It was just so funny in the end that my buddy and I had spent months minutely planning the dive on various decompression programmes none of which mirrored the Vision software accurately.

We spent 12 months diving up for this expedition, as did others, and that was the best strategy.
