Thumbs up World Record - Gigi Casati Reaches -205 with Voyager Rebreather - Vrelo Cave Croatia

Gigi Casati team announcement. Vrelo cave at Une springs Croatia expedition

The 31st of July with a dive begun at 12:20 and ended at 17:15 in the Vrelo cave at the springs of the river Une in Croatia.

Gigi Casati (Lecco Italy) has reached -205 meters setting a new world record for cold water (Around 9-10 C) rebreather cave diving. Total penetration has been around 280 meters.

The Vrelo cave after this exploration is now the deepest spring cave in the Balcans.

In the dive Gigi Casati was using an Aquatek VOYAGER rebreather and a bail-out open circuit decompression line with different gas mixes.

The team was composed by:
Alan Kovacevic (Priliminary reconesance) , Alen Milosevic, Alessandro Fantini, JJ Bolanz (topo), Lorenzo Del Veneziano (photos), Luigi Casati, and Tihomir Kovacevic with his club DDISKF.

Sponsors:
Coltri, Giosub, LMNT, Parisi, Utengas.

The expedition will have a total duration of 10 days and is still ongoing while I post this news.

Great stuff! Looking forward to hearing more.

(Was Dave Shaw's dive classed as warm water then?)

Great.

Now please some survey and profile data etc.
Just doing it for the record would be boring...

In general, the French caves I dived are around 12C.

No idea what temp it might be at the depth JM dived to, a guess is probably somewhere between 10-12C at depth...

Font d'Estramar last week -191m = 19 deg celcius
Port Miou -172m = 18 deg celcius, 20 on deco
all the other ones like St Sauveur 13 deg

I don't do below 13 I'm too old for that
