| Re: Turks & Caicos Recommendation needed Just send him to the club med there. He'll be well fed, have fun and get great diving. Been there many times, had loads of fun and the diving is awesome. Hi Erik,I am not trying to be cute and I appreciate your recommendation however, he has been diving since 1971, and is fairly accomplished. With all due respect isn't Club Med, a little bit on the beginner side? Best regards

| Re: Turks & Caicos Recommendation needed Hi I'm not sure if he is still operating, but if he is, Mitch Rollin of blue water divers is not just the finest dive operator in the world, he is also one of the nicest guys you could ever meet. Grand Turk Scuba Diving: Blue Water Divers of Grand Turk, Turks and Caicos Islands If not, try oasis divers also of Grand Turk. Grand Turk Scuba Diving Specialists - Oasis Divers Whenever I go to Grand Turk I stay at the Osprey Osprey Beach Hotel It's a cool place, near the salt raker and some other top bars, and the onsite bar is the birdcage which is where a lot of people hang out. GT is expensive, and the osprey isn't cheap but it's still pretty good value. Grand Turk is the only island I know, so I can't comment on the others. Hope he has a great trip, enjoy and safe diving. |

| Re: Turks & Caicos Recommendation needed Club Med is not necessarily for beginners. Some of the best OC dives I've done are on the walls there, absolutely spectacular. Some of the dives are to 140 feet and they do at least one night dive a week which is incredible. I think your cousin would absolutely love it there. The boats are big and very comfortable, the dive team is absolutely top notch and there are a lot of dive sites, all of which are great. They even have a dive doctor on every boat. In the interest of full disclosure, I write for one of Club Med's websites, but I would not recommend any dive location if I didn't think it was appropriate. Club Med Turkoise is an adults only location --and there is a lot of partying at night so if he doesn't like that sort of thing, then it would not be for him, of course. Jeff |

| French Erik | Re: Turks & Caicos Recommendation needed I second Jeff's opinion. I dove 4 dives a day there on walls to 140+ feet. It was incredible. If he wants to party, he can. If he wants to just do some stuff after a day of diving, he'll have fun. Just an easy, safe place to do some great diving. It's not tech at all of course, they might or might not have nitrox. But it's a great outfit there. |

| Backmounted Bungler ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Turks & Caicos Recommendation needed I must be getting old. Everywhere I go in the Caribbean, they insist on having some 'animation' guy with a microphone playing 'Boom, cha-cha, Boom cha-cha, Boom cha -cha dun: Dugga Dugga (repeat) with him encouraging the ladies to join in with his 'dutty dance' "cun ya ere me now??" whoop! whoop! (unfortunately yes, you usual can no matter where you are in the complex) "arlriiggghht! Now ur dancin!" |

| Re: Turks & Caicos Recommendation needed I've had great diving on Provo with Big Blue (.: Big Blue Unlimited - unique award winning eco-adventures :.). They have two fast boats and go out to French Cay or West Caicos. Very small groups usually: sometimes just 3-4 divers per boat. No dive time limits. Lots of sharks, eagle rays, turtles, all with humpbacks singing in the background. Reef is a bit underwhelming though. On Grand Turk I'll plug my friend Harvey's resort: Caribbean Diving - Caribbean Vacations: Bohio Dive Resort!. I haven't been there, but he's young and keen and I taught him OW, so he must run a good diving resort ![]() I heard mixed things about Club Med on Provo. Seem to remember they had max dive depth 20m, max dive time 40min and they run their clocks an hour different to the rest of the island so "you don't have to get up so early". Could be wrong on that though. |

| Re: Turks & Caicos Recommendation needed I have stayed at "Beach's" and did do a couple of dives with them (included in you stay). But at the time, maybe 10yrs ago they had a depth limit of 80ft on first dive 60ft on second. Because of this I did end up booking with a dedicated dive shop. Problem is I don't remember who, sorry. ![]() Al |
