Nags Head NC Event Friday May 16th

The event below is Friday evening on the 16th of May and is free of charge to the general public . On Saturday the plan is to dive the Green Buoy aka San Delfino on Sunday plan is the Bedloe. On Friday evening May 16th 2008, the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island will host an “Underwater Film Celebration” with presentations by special guests Pete Nawrocky and David Alberg.

Pete Nawrocky is a professional underwater photographer and technical dive instructor with a long history of working in a variety of situations. It is not uncommon for him to be capturing images in a Florida cave, followed by a deep tri mix dive off the coast of Massachusetts. His articles and images can be found in numerous publications and media throughout the worldwide diving community. He is a recipient of the Beneath the Sea (BTS) Diver of the Year award and the National Association of Underwater Instructors (NAUI) Outstanding Contribution to Sport Diving Award and is also the National Field Manager for Dive Rite. He is currently based in Virginia Beach, VA.

David Alberg is the Superintendent for the Monitor National Marine Sanctuary and serves as the primary point of contact between NOAA and The Mariners’ Museum in Newport News, Virginia, which is presently conserving the thousands of artifacts recovered from the wreck of the USS Monitor. He has an extensive background in cultural resource management, museum work and exhibits development and has been involved in a number of high-profile museum projects. He also serves in the United States Naval Reserve and holds a bachelors degree in Museum Studies from George Mason University plus a master’s degree in Museum Education from the College of William and Mary.

This special event will take place from 7:00 pm to 8:30 pm in Neptune’s Theatre at the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island in Manteo, NC. The event will be free of charge to the general public with doors opening at 6:30 pm. Pete Nawrocky’s presentation will start at 7:00 pm followed by David Alberg’s at 7:45 pm. This event is made possible through the generosity of the North Carolina Aquarium on Roanoke Island, NOAA Monitor Marine Sanctuary, Outer Banks Dive Center, and the Outer Banks Wreck Diving Club.
