WARNING dont order cells from AP just yet

Jut got two new cells to replace my D7's What do i get two E7's

11 months old

I am returning them and awaiting replacements but thats the youngest they have in stock apparently ??????

I am awaiting an Email to let me know when the new stock is in. Ill let you know.

I bet they would reject them if I sent my unit in for a service in two months time

Frankly i think its disgusting sending out cells that old

EDIT: Aparently this is just the molex type they have an issue with.

Mark,

I presume you called them about it? What did they say? Especially given what it says on their video?

Was about to send the head back for a service too...

They said it didn't mater because thats just the date of manufacture

And people wonder why I get angry at AP.

I reminded them when I sent in my head with 14 month old cells in that had only been out of the bag for six months they rejected them.

The then told me they were having a problem with the supplier and to send them back for replacement but they couldn't say when they could replace them.

Hence i am awaiting an Email

I am sure someone said they got recent cells from AP just the other day

I paid top doller £57.00 to get them from AP as i expected them to be recent.

Now i have to pay for special delivery to have them returned

Edited the first post.

Aparently they are good for the CoAX type just not the molex.

Re: WARNING dont order cells from AP just yet

Since this most recent fiasco I will always ask what age cells will be supplied before purchasing, sounds obvious, wish I'd done it previously...

You would have thought April-May in the UK would be the one time to make sure you had stock, it is when most people start diving again afterall!

Re: WARNING dont order cells from AP just yet

Interesting point about the age of the sensors when you buy them as many manufacturers do go by the date of manufacturer when it comes to servicing and not the date of installation given the manufacturer's date is the only date printed on the Sensor.

We have found ordering sensors in smaller batches and ordering regularly keeps the stock fresh and ensures sensors are from the same manufacturers batch but I would recommend a staggered change of the Sensors over a few dives unless they are replacing flooded or dead sensors in which case a test in a cell checker to verify the sensors are good before use would be recommended and we are happy to test sensors in our walk-in stores that have Cell checkers for that purpose as we have found the old millivolt test is not sufficient to determine a sensors health even when new.

I have also started to list our current sensor batch manufacturers date Rebreather World Store so that the manufacturing date can be checked on the web-page before the sensors are ordered so you should know how old the sensors are before they are shipped I am sure that would be a simple process for other sellers to follow as return shipping costs are often left to the buyer.

I do consider a few standards for Sensor Distributors would be a good thing like a print out of the test results from the sensor that is carried out before shipping to accompany the sensors and a section to be completed by the diver showing the date that the Sensor goes into service this could then be used for any warranty or service checks and would give a reference on which to gauge the Sensors current state and avoid sensors being binned during servicing that have only recently entered service as most sensors are bought in packs of four and one acts as a spare so it may be quite a while before that sensors sees any service.

Re: WARNING dont order cells from AP just yet

Sounds good Barry.

Sensors as a topic has always bugged me slightly, yes they are a consumable but if your O2 fill is bad or your Slime turns up half full the suppliers do something about it.... with sensors there seems to be a certain amount of- "you bought 'em, they are your problem"
Doesn't seem right with something that costs £50+

I'd like to see all sensors come with a Cell Checker print out and a maxiumum storage, display until and usage date to give us confidence.

Currently we look at one date and get upset if its 4months+ manufactured as we've been advised.

I'd prefer- (for example)
Manufactured- Aug 07
Display until- Aug 08
First Install by- Dec 08
Outside Warranty- Dec 09

And an explanation of what the warranty includes.

I don't think bare cells in a bare plastic bag is enough.

Hi Ben,

We should be able to do something along those lines and make it a bit more traceable for the end user but I agree the manufactured date is only that and it does not indicate the date of purchase (warranty) or the date of service (expected life) to the unit owner or any service technician or accident investigator that a spec sheet would help provide.

I got a new replacement SMB for one that failed prematurely, it was 6 months old.
I suppose its difficult to complain when your warranty replacement is as old as the fcked one you sent back. Got to ditch them onto customers somehow.
