| Rebreather World Greeter ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Anybody went to Ghost Ships? Hi all, I was just wondering if anybody attended Ghost Ships and can reflect on the exhibits and presentations? Any cool new discoveries? Has the UC-97 finally been found, besides by A&T who won't say where it is? Anything rebreather at the show? Anything else worth mentioning? Look forward to hear how it was. Thanks, RBN

![]() | Re: Anybody went to Ghost Ships? I was there, and it was good. Not sure about new discoveries, but there were a few rebreathers there. rEvo, Ouroboros, Meg, KISS. There was a rebreather demo during the show this year, and one the day after as well. I attended the day after demo. |

At Ron Benson’s (Deep Thought) booth there were a Meg, a rEvo, and a Sport Kiss. Shearwater was represented by Curt McNee (SP? Sorry….). Next door were a YBOD or two. There were 2 Orubberousses (SP?) at opposite corners of the show. Delta P’s US rep, Tami Thompson was there showing the colors and answering questions w/ both VR3 & VR2 on display. There was an Optima somewhere, I think, and of course the obligatory Dolphin or two. Wreck Diver’s Supply had some great bargains on their clearance table (new 300 bar valves $48, new SPGs $42 for example). Off hand I’d say close to a dozen wreck diving charter boats based at various ports had booths as well. For those who like books, there was a series of tables where there must have been over 100 different books on anything related to Great Lakes history, ships, ports, shipping, shipwrecks, you name it. Greg Stanton did a 3 hour intro to CCRs/ pool demo. The programs were great- biggest problem was I wanted to see several that were presented at the same time. The most interesting one was an absolutely EXCELLENT presentation on the workings of steam engines. Everyone can identify the pistons/ crankshaft, but this program did a very credible job of explaining what all the other valves, levers, and wheels are for and how they affect the operation of the engine.

A buddy of mine went last year to Ghost Ships and he spoke to the guys at Nordic diver and they said that they know where it is. And looking on the Nordic diver web-site, they have charters scheduled to the UC-97 for the end of the season. But so far I have not heard of anyone who has dove that wreck. Probably still out there to be claimed. Well, I wish I could have attended Ghost Ships, maybe next year. Thanks, RBN

Thanks, RBN I haven't been on the UC-97, but I have talked to Bill from Nordic Diver and he claims to be diving it. I have no reason not to believe him. Send him an email and ask him about it. |
