having been kidnapped by pirates a few years ago (whole dive boat and divers chased, boarded and held ransom) Indonesia - I know how powerless one can feel. Our Pirates were the best armed and funded in Indonesian waters - The Indonesian Navy!.

The most interesting part was to see the different reactions from the different nationalities on board. The SE Asian divers slept, the Americans were visibly and absolutely stunned and outraged that this could happen to them ("we are Americans!") spent their time huddled together actually discussing how/if they could rush the pirates!! and the Bristish divers just grabbed as much of the beer as they could and drank it before the Pirates could! (only thing worse than a poorly paid, armed pirate, is a poorly paid drunk armed pirate

)

i like the british solution - i reckon kiwis and aussies would hve done the same.
if you are in the sh#% at least get pissed (could make a good bumper sticker)

I've asked Richard to chime in - in his response to me he said that he would of been better of in a Mexican prison (we met in Mexico) since BVI is a third world country and his treatment there was terrible. He also said that he is warning people not to go to the British Virgin Islands because of his experience. I hope we hear from him here.

Actually it's more like 300 million now a days.
