What American beer doesn't suck

Rather than hijack that wonderful thread on Rebreather fatality statistics we could continue this most interesting discussion here

So let's have the names of an American beer that doesn't suck.

There was one beer out of New Jersey of all places. Black Horse Ale. Not sure if it is even made any more was as good as any German beer.

Re: What American beer doesn't suck

Most of the Rogue Beer line are pretty tasty. I like the red best.

Yuengling Black and Tan

Shiner Bock

When your in a quantity not quality mood...bud light is hard to beat!

Re: What American beer doesn't suck

I would not flush a toilet w/ most of the American “beer factory” beers but fortunately there has been a resurgence of exceptional quality micro brews in the last ten years. Most are regional but a few are now nationally distributed. Sam Adams makes a decent lager. Sierra Nevada makes an excellent Pale Ale that is almost bitter enough to be called an IPA and for a killer barley wine try their Big Foot Ale- delicious! The Cascade hops that predominate in ales from the Pacific Northwest are a bit of a change from the traditional British Fuggles, but are pleasantly aromatic and easily appreciated. I’ve yet to find a micro that makes a genuinely true to style pils, though some micro pilsners are OK

Advice to folks from outside the USA coming to visit: If you’ve seen an American beer commercially advertised in your country, pass on it and try something else while here.
