Most are regional but a few are now nationally distributed. Sam Adams makes a decent lager. Sierra Nevada makes an excellent Pale Ale that is almost bitter enough to be called an IPA and for a killer barley wine try their Big Foot Ale- delicious! The Cascade hops that predominate in ales from the Pacific Northwest are a bit of a change from the traditional British Fuggles, but are pleasantly aromatic and easily appreciated. I’ve yet to find a micro that makes a genuinely true to style pils, though some micro pilsners are OKAdvice to folks from outside the USA coming to visit: If you’ve seen an American beer commercially advertised in your country, pass on it and try something else while here.
