| New Member Current Rebreather/s: | Re: What American beer doesn't suck Rather than hijack that wonderful thread on Rebreather fatality statistics we could continue this most interesting discussion here although not as tasty as what our friends across the pond have... at least the brews are tastier than that shit our northern bretheren have to endure... So let's have the names of an American beer that doesn't suck. ![]()

Anchor Steam and Sam Adams (I don't think they had gone all Baskin and Robbins when I was last there) were the only drinkable locally brewed beers I've come across, but its been about 12 years and the last couple of times I was in NYC where you can get the real stuff (though why so many people drink Harp - do they even drink that piss in Ireland? - is beyond me) so I'm sure a few microbreweries have popped up in the interim that make something palatable |

Holy Motor City Batman! When did I fall asleep and Schlitz walk over to Detroit? Dear God man! Stroh's gives me the goes if you know what I mean. This is awful, just awful. Do we still have Shotz Brewery in Milwaukee, or was that just in Lavern and Shirley? At least the baseball stadium is still called Miller Park, isn't it?![]()

Miller Park is still Miller Park and has the great distinction of playing host to the United States Bowling Congress Masters finals at the end of the month - you can catch it just before DEMA![]() ... and I think that was just Laverne and Shirley ![]() |

| Apprentice Meg Pilot Current Rebreather/s: | Re: What American beer doesn't suck Found some links that may be of interest: Best Beers of the United States 2007 THE BEST BEERS IN THE WORLD OVERALL A few of the American ones rate pretty highly on the world list, but given the number of American beers listed I can guess who's doing the lion-share of the voting (you have to dig into the Australian and Kiwi beers to find Little Creatures Pale Ale and Edinburgh's Caledonian 80 and Belhaven 80 barely rate). While I'm not a massive fan of Crown Lager, any system which places Emu Bitter above Crown is definitely flawed! Last edited by kieranu : 2nd October 2007 at 07:35. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: What American beer doesn't suck I just spent the summer in the Netherlands and I'll never order another Heineken in my lifetime. Seems to be the Corona of Europe. Nah, that's Stella. It's TV ads are full of rustic French life (even though it's allegedly Belgian) with the strap line "reassuringly expensive". In reality it's made next to the M65 motorway in Blackburn (or if you're really lucky you get the stuff made in sunny Newport) with burnt out buildings & cars up on bricks next to the factory (I wouldn't be as generous as to call it a brewery). Over-priced gnats piss.If you want decent lager you need some Rambrau from the Sun Inn in Dent in Cumbria. Accompanied by proper cave diving and gullible female tourists in the summer. Cheers, Stuart
