![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Submatix CCR Yesterday (November 21, 2005) I had a very enjoyable dive at Alki Beach in Seattle Washington diving the Submatix rebreather configured with CCR adaption. I was diving the unit without the wing, only using the harness which was quite comfortable. The dive was to 90 fsw where there is a large set of I beams, I believe from a T.V. or radio tower that is covered with white anemone. I was quite impressed with the ease of breathing in all positions, and only found it slightly sensitive to ADV when I rolled on my back. The unit fits very comfortably on my back, and I was able to utilize the integrated weight pockets for ballast needs. The trim and feel in the water was also good. Question for divers who actively dive the Submatix: are you wearing the stock wing or supplying your own wing? The stock bladder looks a bit intimidating or bulky…any comments. |

| Home of the TR300 ![]() Current Rebreather/s: | Re: Submatix CCR I have fitted mine Submatix (years ago) to an Seaquest PRO QD, it was a very comfortable making. I am not sure the holes on the submatix today, but it should no problem to drill one more in it. I fixed the submatix with stainless steel bolts, the nuts was fixed in the plastic from the jacket so i can screw without holding the nut. I had done the ccr conversion 3 years ago with the submatix, it is the only way to dive with the submatix even longer. Holger

I think one of the concerns right now is the cylinders are not DOT approved. This may or may not be a concern for divers? When I ordered inspiration ccr’s direct from the UK, I was selling systems with non DOT cylinders to my students and they have not had issues. However a distributor would need to provide cylinders appropriate for the market. There are appropriate cylinders that will fit, so I don’t think it is a big issue. Thanks, Trey Another issue that concerned me regarding the ccr model is how to increase the PPO2. While I had a very comfortable dive, and enjoyed the breathing characteristics, I found it challenging to increase the PPO2 without the ADV diluting the mix. Would any divers who are currently diving the submatix with ccr modification please give your thoughts on adding oxygen and increasing the PPO2 Ron |

I have done years ago a CCR conversation with needle valve and pushbutton, this works, i had a strong O2 flow when pushing the manual O2 so on inhaleing the ADV was not flushing. Holger

My initial trials was to descend and add some O2 trying to adjust to the ADV adding. Towards the end of the dive I was holding down for long, long intervals and not finding the PO2 increasing dramatically. If I were to do the same add with a KISS valve I would have a seriously high PO2. My concern is perhaps the location of the oxygen add in the same section of the lung that has the adv. I am confused at where the oxygen was going, and why the loop was not spiking?which O2 Booster do you use ? this one from Submatix or another ?
