Manual Injection Valve

Golem Gear is proud to introduce the MIV-1, the Manual Injecttion Valve.

Omniswivel has done it again - they have made a superb product for rebreather divers. After months of testing and feedback we have helped them to produce an extremely robust and versatile manual injection valves , perfect for backmounted counterlungs and mCCRs

There are two models - Oxygen and Diluent. The only difference is the flow rate after the push of the button. The O2 valve flows at ~ 4 liters/min while the Dil valve flows at full bore.

Manual Injection Valve for Diluent
Manual Injection Valve for Oxygen

The valve can be configured with off board gas using the side 3/8-24 port.
The Oxygen Add button is physically different from the Diluent Add button so it can be distinguished by feel in zero visibility conditions.

Re: Manual Injection Valve

These look nicely made! A diagram/photo of the innards would be great.

Two questions:

You mention putting a 60 micron filter on the intake on your website - how does this go with adding offboard gas when a small amount of water will get into the valve? Can the valve cope with this water? Is there an orifice that will get blocked?

You quote a flowrate of 4lpm what pressure is this with?

Thanks,
Neil

60 micron filter on the O2 MIV only. If you plan to have an offboard on O2, I would put a filter on the off board feed as well and/or disassemble and clean the valve after each saltwater dive where you pugged the offboard in undrewater. No problem if you keep it plugged from topside.

There is no orifice, but a flow opening is rather small on the O2 model. You can always increase it with a small drill

4lpm was measured with 140psiIP nonballanced 1st stage.

As mentioned above if the flow is small for you, 10 seconds with a drill bit will increase it. We figured that having a limited flow on the O2 add is a a good thing.

Looks great.

All 3 of the ports standard 3/8-24?

Re: Manual Injection Valve

nice piece of craftsmanship. sticker price seems a bit on the high side at over $300 per unit. Might be a hard sell over effectively the same product from Clippard for $15. will be interesting to see how this goes

.
Yes, all ports are standard 3/8-24, the off-board one comes with a plug and the two on top come with 3/8 to 9/16 adapters.

Belive me these valves are not even in the same league as Clippards. I was prototyping a lot with Clippards and would never use them in life support equipment.
The Omniswivel valves were designed specifically for diving and were built for heavy duty expedition style diving.
You could kill small game with them during surface intervals

But that is why we have choices, right.

Re: Manual Injection Valve

Definitely not knocking the build quality..I am sure that they are top-notch, BUT way too pricey for me. I'll stick with my Clippards (which work just fine for me, and seem to be holding up fine in the many rEvo's out there). If I want to kill small game during my surface interval, I'll spend the 300 on something that uses bullets
