Hey Robert,

Yes, that would be true. What we were trying to do is give you something you could use as a "genuine" backup computer - one that is integrated into your system, uses the same algorithm, electronics, etc - all the various elements that can possibly affect the output.

Over the years, we've received numerous requests to do this, but it didn't seem necessary, given the number of VR-3's and HS Explorer's out there.

(Remember, we were the first one's to actually SUPPORT third-party monitoring of our system - and still do, I might add).

But there do seem to be differences (at least anecdotally) in the Deco between sets (for whatever reason).

This led us to add the Deco ability to the Secondary, which involved a near complete rewrite of the Secondary firmware.

Once we decided we were going to add this feature, I thought it would be nice to have the ability to turn the Deco on/off - some divers not wanting it to be "on" all the time. Since there was no huge penalty in terms of power consumption of the Secondary, I thought it would be cool if we had it track your dive anyway, and be there, like a Lifeboat, just-in-case.

When I actually saw this in action during Beta testing, I was stoked. It was really, the coolest thing I had seen in Rebreather controls in a long time. I actually started giggling when, after a 2 hour bottom time at 224' on 16/84 the Secondary returned the exact same TRT and Ceiling.

Back to your question - if you think about it - you could use it in other creative ways - like running a separate set of conservatism for working vs. easy swimming, etc.

I'm sure the end-users on this forum will come up with lots of cool ways to use it, which is why we keep trying to come up with new, cooler things for them to play with in order to make rebreather diving safer, convenient, and more fun.

It's a beautiful thing, man...

Take care,

Kevin.

Kevin

Could you..................

Wire the a secondary only into a Copis head (Removing the copis Handset) use this to mointor the cells, run deco, AND run a HUD????????

If thats doable it would make a nice MCCR

Would love to see that available for Jetsam and rEvo CCRs, too.

Green for the thought, Paul.
Kevin will get one if the answer is 'yes'.

"Of Course" is the answer - will that do?

We can configure the HH system to do most anything now. Secondary with Deco and HUD for the KISS/Copis is ready to go.

Have a Happy 4th of July everyone! (except you Brits. Sorry about that. Tea and all, you know...)

Re: New Hammerhead Sets - Announcement

Got me thinking now.............

Not sure how much Firmware you would nee to change but theres a stand alone dive computer in that Secondary methinks......... with the ability to plug 1 to 3 cells into it

O.k.....

How about, for a limited time, $1,595 - about the price of the VR-3 with OC/CC and Trimix - but this one, fitted to your Head, connected to 3 cells.

Sound good?

Re: New Hammerhead Sets - Announcement

I have a Hammerhead on my Classic Kiss and as we Brits say’s I thinks it the Dogs Bollocks. I especially love the secondary display I use it in Depth/Timer Mode which gives me all the information I need current depth, temperature maximum depth total dive time even down to the second. Your Po2 readout for all three cells is visible at all times on the bottom line of the display which I love it even comes with a vibrating HUD (DIVA). I must admit if the deco function was available for the secondary when I bought mine I may have dispensed with the primary handset which controls the solenoid. Now who want’s to buy a VR3 as I need to start saving for my upgrade hopefully the £1 will soon be worth $2.50 so I can get my upgrade quicker. Now off to enjoy a nice cup of tea as all of this typing has made me thirsty.

Louis

What’s that banging sound I hear?

Could it be a few nails being driven into the coffin of a certain last-dive-computer-I’ll-ever-need…..
