What spares do you carry?

Hi,

after enjoying my first dives on my Inspiration, I was wondering what spares you carry with you?

Re: What spares do you carry?

Depends on the trip duration and where in the world you are going. If your doing a weekend at the attersee then batteries, scrims(fleeces) and some buddy clean would be fine.

If your off to dive Bikini it would probably be abit more intensive. Also major factor when planning a trip I find is what kind of logistical support is available on the ground (vorort), with the rebreather community increasing in size month by month alot of destinations world wide cater for rebreathers and carry spares as well. Check before booking your trip what is available locally.

Great advantage with the AP range of breathers is that they are so well spread and therefore access to tanks plus cells, batteries is alot easier.

I know that if your in the Red Sea getting spares is not an issue what so ever especially for the AP range of breathers and I know of somebody
that carries spares for rEvo, Sentinel and the Discovery so as said before it really depends on what your planning on undertaking and where in the world that is.

Hope that helps.

Servus,
Marc

Re: What spares do you carry?

agree with marc - all depends on where i am as to which tool kit i take. But to give you an idea the basics for me with AP taking a cpl of days to ship to me and with mostly OC divers on the boat is:
Batteries
Cell
Scrims
Buddy Clean
Mouthpiece
Cable ties
Battery holder nut as they are easily lost
O rings for head, hoses, first stages

Range of allen keys, screwdrivers, pliers and molegrips just as i did for OC kit along with spare 1st stage, spare regs, and obviously fin straps, masks etc.

Re: What spares do you carry?

If it's a multi day trip or for a class,

Full complement of O rings
Service kits for ADV, DSV, First Stages (auto air not installed)
1 Battery per day of trip
4 Cells if possible
1 first stage and second stage service kit for (Apeks) BO regs
O2 Lube
Scrims
Din to yoke fill adapter
Cable ties
Sterilizer
1/8" bungee cord
OC diving gear

Just did an 8 day trip. I just had no battery changes. Must be the new solonoid. But the OC gear paid off since the last day was one shallow dive and I was able to enjoy it with the unit all cleaned and packed already.

I like the idea of a spare battery box nut. Going to add that to the spares box.

When I dove the AP Evolution, I used to carry with me a kitchen sink. Now that I dive a rEvo, all I ever need is a pair of cheap shades.

Re: What spares do you carry?

Thanks for your tipps. I'm currently looking into the "basic" stuff that keeps me running on those weekend trips.

@Marc - how did you know that you can find mit at Attersee every other weekend :)

I generally carry all the spares that I don't need to fix the problem at hand Murphy's law!

Re: What spares do you carry?

Jürgen it was just an educated guess with the Attersee and yeap the special submatix contact oil comes in very handy on fischer connectors like on the temp. stick thanks for that Seppu.

Safe diving,
Marc
