    Best of luck!

I fully agree with the advice and visited 3 different cardiac specialists before selecting one that had a good history of repairs. In fact he told me afterwards that during the opertion he was assisted by two other specialist both of whom recommended replacment as the quicker solution while I was on the operating table. However I had expressed my desire to dive again and that only a repair would allow that so he persisted - and it worked. I dropped into the pool last weekend to refresh ! Tomorrow I intend doing a bit of muck diving in an estuary and two weeks from now I have booked 3 days of diving. Obvioulsy starting shallow and taking it easy - my rebreather looked surprised to see me last week !

Anyway thanks for the good advice it is appreciated

Just for the sake of completeness 6 months after my open heart surgery for a leaking mitral valve I completed 3 shallow dives, around 20m, the longest being 1.5hrs but without any problems! I intend continuing the progress until I can dive to +70m on trimix again. Once again thanks for all the support from divers around the world.
