BDH Container - Suitable for Lime?

Does anyone out there use BDH containers to store scrubber material? I've used them in the past for canoeing and, with a simple seal made from truck inner tube (see, another use for it , they are pretty watertight. I've also seen them used as toolboxes on the A-Frames of RHIBs in the UK.

There is a 2.5l version. I've got a hunch that this might work for the Inspiration scrubber, so was thinking about giving it a try. Their original use is/was for storing some type of chemicals. I've never known what....

The aim would be to: a) Allow me to carry a scrubber fill at a time, reducing the total volume I need to take on any one trip b) Make large amounts more portable, as it would be broken down into smaller chunks and c) Expose a smaller amount to contamination/water when packing the scrubber on a boat.

Clearly, I could be missing something (like 2.5 Kg of lime doesn't fit in a 2.5 l container or lime will eat a BDH container . Has anyone tried this and dumped it as an idea? If so, why? Does anyone know why I wouldn't want to do this?

    Cheers,

No the inspo scrubber won't fit in a 2.5L BDH tub, and it will only hold ~2.5 off loime so not enough for a fill - your better off buying the two pack of 4.5kg lime tubs (same cost per kg as the 20kg tubs from APD)

    Have a look at :
    http://www.solentplastics.co.uk

For Darren drums (like a BDH)

    Product Pages then Marine.

Also have a look at Lidded Box for yes lidded boxes not a bad price for the box sold for a lot more through some dive shops.

I use an empty 5L water bottle from the supermarket. Holds enough for a KISS fill, it has a carrying handle, it's clear so it's easy to put a fill marker on it, the narrow mouth makes pouring easier than from a tub and best of all, they cost about 60p from Morrisons.

    Cheers,

I knew there would be a good reason why I've never seen or heard of anyone using them

    Many thanks for your help!
